I thought Sakamoto on Coventry's right wing looked good over the two games, not sure his status but he would be one I'd be looking at if the price is right and we want good competition for Roberts next season.
Ironically most of their fanbase wants him replaced, similar to Roberts in that he skins people all day then does nowt. We'd probably want better.
Decent player but think we can do better, no matter what league we are in Works his socks off but didn't really create anything over the 2 games We need better than Roberts no matter what league we are in
Grimes was the one that impressed me most last night thought he dominated the midfield really good player, both of their wingers were handy, don’t rate wright at all, bit of a handful but that’s it, his numbers are impressing though but the eye test think he’s abit **** personally (hat trick in the league aside of course)
I seem to remember him getting a few crosses on during the first leg especially, something we need more of. Ballard was such a colossus during these two games, he probably put Sakamoto off crossing in the second leg because he was winning everything!
Yeah agreed, Wright has all the ingredients to be great but he strops about and isn't composed at all in the box. EMC on the left terrified me all game and I'm so glad we have trai Hume, his shoulders were ****ing massive. I used to think Sheaf would be able to step up to the premier league, but since he signed Grimes has been absolutely immense and helped them go on that crazy run of form. Rudoni my favorite of their lads but just because of how much he offers physically, think he could be really really useful.
Yeah could've been, although sounds like last night was Sakamoto resorting back to the mean. Usually gets all his joy going outside but is obsessed with cutting back and losing it (sounds like someone we know). The general consensus was that Sakamoto first 70 of the first leg was the best he'd look for months and that last 20 he went back to his old ways of exclusively cutting inside.
The other dons, the wimble ones. Yeah he went Huddersfield instead back when that actually seemed like a smart move, ah well times change lol.
Aye rudoni is the one I really like, got a bit of everything Grimes is class but just not sure he makes the step up - good technically but not as impressed with his defensive work which would get found out more in the top flight
If there's a consensus we need to be looking at a right winger this summer, what sort of names would we be looking at?
Here's a few: Ollie Tanner, 24, Cardiff Sonny Perkins, 21, Leyton Orient Brad Young, 22, Al-Orobah Ben Doak, 19, Liverpool Scott Banks, 22, St. Pauli Kasey McAteer, 23, Leicester Tyler Goodrham, 23, Oxford Ross McCausland, 22, Rangers If we're promoted, with the exception of Doak, we'd probably want higher calibre than these.
If we go up Adingra from Brighton please, we’ve shown an interest before and they have ridiculous numbers in wide positions
Suggest some names, keep their wages under five figures and the fee under £4m. Tougher than you think.
As an exercise, try it, try to delay gratification, try to work within bold constraints and understand things from that perspective. It helps combat the attitudes that led to Ellis Short pumping in a hundred million on players only to sell the entire enterprise for less than 10% of that.
I feel like I might have come across the wrong way when I said we'd need better, it was purely from an aspect of talking to people at the club and the transfer front certainly seems more ambitious this year regardless of promotion. Ill have a think though (not really too clued up on players specific wages?): Hugo Bolin Miguel Rodriguez would have been available for £1m had he not already agreed to go to Utrecht (think that shows the quality out there) Jacob Trenskow Serginho at Viborg Benjamin Nygren contract expiring Kwame Poku is free - can then offer more in wages that offsets the difference in fee. Jamie Donley a good option on the right or through the middle.
