40 points were needed because the crap teams above the bottom 3 team just took SO many points off the bottom three. Us being super useless helped everybody amass points.

For Saints to have slightest chance of staying up Leicester and Ipswich would have to have been far less crap, and us even more so.

Man Utd, Spurs and WH would have been in real real trouble with a vaguely competitive bottom three. They could have struggled to get 32 points.

When we went down in '23, the bottom three got 90 points between them. Currently the bottom three have just 56 points.

Man Utd got lucky this season. They really should have been in a relegation battle.

Not forgetting Tottenham, who are even worse than Man Utd.

The only thing that makes up for them both not actually getting relegated is that they would both be ridiculously too good for the Championship, so our only chance of getting promoted would be via the playoffs.

Oh for sure, they'd both get promoted at the first time of asking, but it would have still been funny seeing them thrown into the lions' den of the Championship, haha.

Not trying to undermine Ramsdale’s performance but I am somewhat bemused by some in the media claiming he pulled off a string of excellent saves.
He was good but I didn’t think his performance was anything more than routine.

Glad it wasn't just me. All the saves were ones I'd expect a keeper to make and he flapped at a couple of crosses too iirc.

Being blunt I don't rate him as highly as many people seem to do. Watching him kick it out of play under no pressure regularly is frustrating.

He's a good keeper. But not 100k a week good.

He’s a good PL keeper, in hindsight not a great use of funds though. Brought in to reduce embarrassment levels, didn’t work.

In a decent team that doesn’t allow 30+ shots a game he might make the difference, in our case he probably stopped us conceding more than 5. I dread to think how many drubbings we would have had with Bazunu in goal.

This is what I was referring to. I think it actually is the worst I've ever seen given he was stood two yards away. Unbelievable.

It did proper galvanise the crowd though. Been a while since I've heard us that angry at a decision which isn't a major one.
