And if he’d got lobbed or ball through his legs in doing that, all his detractors would be saying why did he come out…. Who’d be a keeper!

Just seen the Manning interview about the ref and the penalty.
Rod/Supcon.....listen on 35seconds to Manning alluding to the problems in the build up.

Nobody is saying there wasn’t issues defending the build up. I’ve noticed it in the last couple of games, we are getting carved open with a long curving pass that catches out our back 3, it happened against Leeds, PNE and Sheff Utd; however the bottom line is that Dickie was at fault.
If that had been Zak, there is no way you’d have let it go, and held anyone else’s at fault, you’d have lumped it all on his shoulders.

I've said on this issue Dickie was at fault, no doubt.
What I've pointed out, as Manning, that there were contributing factors....and the main factor was Vyner....and if Vyner hadn't been at fault we'd be going to Sheffield tonight in a far better position.

'If that had been Zac etc etc'
    Grow up.

Look at the wing backs and the CDM (?), City are not collectively defending as a team, the team is not getting compact as it was, and is frequently open, leaving the back three exposed. Versus Leeds and Sheffield Utd the back three were frequently 3v3, and in wide areas isolated 1v1, and overloaded.

Exactly, that has fallen away the last month, hence the amount of goals we’re conceding. Largely injury driven, I get that, but it has been really apparent recently, and more worryingly, easily exploited by opposing teams

The main contributing factor was Dickie looked to come for a ball to cover Tanner, realised he couldn’t get to it and then tried to get back in position, by which time Moore had got goal side of him, Dickie realising his error panicked and brought Moore down. However had Max read the situation he could have rushed out to meet the oncoming Moore but instead tried to hold his ground.

Ashton, much as I think we need a better keeper I don't believe O'leary is as much fault as Dickie and Vyner and tbf Rod has mentioned more than once of his injury.
You don't mention Vyner, have look and wonder as Manning alluded why he didn't cover Dickie in the build up.
Rod mentioned Vyner was marking Campbell, but Campbell wasn't even in the picture.
Vyner didn't 'read' the hole Dickie dug for himself.
After that Dickie 'over compensated' and committed the foul that led to the penalty and red card.
    Game over.

ps IMO Clifton has rightly mentioned we've stopped defending as a team and Sheff Utd's first goal confirmed it.

Fair points, something has changed in the way we have defended lately - injuries I guess have not helped. I could live with being more risk averse at the back if it translates to more up the top end of the pitch, but it’s not. A conundrum for Liam to mull over through the summer

I think it’s due to having to use make shift central defenders, Tanner can do a job, but it’s not his best position, ditto Roberts, also as good as McCrorie is going forward he’s not as good as Cam Pring defensively, and the rest of the defenders don’t have the relationship they have with Pring, these things are found out by Quality opponents like Sheff U, you might get away with it against lesser opponents but not players of the quality of Moore etc.

Funny we all see things differently, I usually stick up for Max, but regardless what happened before at the point Moore was goalside of Dickie I felt Max should have tried to intervene, he seemed to think about it, but didn’t, then it was too late. I accept his injury may have influenced his decision.

what what what -Roberts is nothing like McCrorie going forward. Roberts is a liability

Coincided with Joe Williams being off the field. He’s no world beater but he does defend from the front well.

If he wasn’t in the picture then you’re correct. But in my defence I’m still pissed off about it that I have not bothered with highlights. It was Kieffer Moore! Drives me insane.

I’m hoping this formation is wrong. I’m. A little disappointed tbh, I’d like us to go 2 up top and really try and put some pressure on Sheff Utd. I can’t see it with this formation..

Think you can safely say who ever done that is talking bollocks. When has Pring ever played RW for us? McCorie in LCB.
That’s the sort of think the negative twins would write up.

Just seen it on the warm up. Yes you was correct, and I was wrong he was wondering round like a lost puppy. Still can’t forgive Dickie though.

No worries Rod, I'm not saying anymore in case you remind me AGAIN of my initial thoughts about Wade Elliott <cheers>
