Yes, Wilson can go with a thank-you for the goals. I'd also sell Willock if the rumours that Palace want him are true. Too injury prone and we could replace with equal or better from Europe, for less £ than we sell him for. Barnes being looked at by Villa? Sell if we can get a decent profit. As with Willock, not irreplaceable and we could do so from overseas and again turn a profit, which will help with strengthening elsewhere.
I guess it depends on who comes in. I don't think Howe would be as concerned if it was an established Premiership player coming in. For instance, if we were able to swap Willock +£30m for Adam Wharton is that going to upset the balance of things? I actually like most of the squad and trust the club to slowly evolve some of the weaker elements of the team/squad. I don't think we'll sign a handful of stars and challenge for the league next year but I think we'll sign a couple of obvious improvements and a couple of prospects then look like comfortable top 5 contenders who can put in performances in the cups and europe. Getting beyond that whilst there's a handful of teams who can simply outspend us is going to be a project.
Too much transfer chat in the Chelsea thread!! So according to many, Cunha and Delap to Man U (who can't afford to send backroom staff to the EL Final) is done, without any outgoings. Wirtz to Man City for around £130m is also being lined up, so that's nice, whilst us and Villa scrape around for some coins behind the sofa. I suspect Trafford is already done - he's not going to have another go at relegation with Burnley and Romano said a couple of times that Trafford's terms with us were agreed. On reflection we're not getting Huijsen. I don't think we'll overpay for the likes of Semenyo, Mbuemo. So if I had to reduce the names: GK - Trafford. CB - Guehi. RW - Dibling. CF - Ferguson. Suspect we'll mostly buy British, but I know as much as John Snow and there could just as easily be a Tonali sized surprise lined up.
With Arsenal spending £60m on Zubamendi, Delap going to Man U and Chelsea not capable of signing players for free, I'd wager David will be their main target. Even if not, plenty of other clubs will be able to offer him a starting role. We're not one. Ferguson would be happy learning and his stock will have fallen - the kind of project I could see Howe wanting to take on.
Italian press reports that we're looking to sign Dusan Vlahovic and they view us as his most likely destination. Similar reports from Spanish media that we're after Alexander Sorloth. And in Germany the rumours are that we're pursuing the transfer of Victor Boniface.
