Some of us have been asking for 4/4/2 for months and months, but are told it doesn't work, the Coventry game plan was not absolute perfection imo, but it worked and that's all that matters.

We had a record like that with Boro ...

... now we need to double up and beat them twice.

It's football and no plan can ever be perfect ...

... RLB deserves the praise he's getting.

Lampard looked like he was watching his first match and trying to work out what the rules were <laugh>

I can see why it’s tempting because the opposition are unsubtle and one dimensional- hoying in crosses, throw ins, playing for corners and kicks and their danger is midfielders arriving. Negate that and they have nowt.
Equally stopping crosses, keeping them in their own half, pushing full backs backwards and obviously a goal or two wins us the game. They will be scared of our pace counter attacking, and Le Fee picking their pocket and as we’re at home I’d be going for an early goal personally. Rigg or Le Fee negating Grimes playmaking and another winger in (wish Mundle could start).
Will they play 2 up top from the start ? It’s hard to know how to play without knowing what they will do.
Interesting times but ultimately I trust Le Bris.

I think the Coventry game is a perfect example of the strengths and weaknesses of 4 4 2 for us. Two attackers with scary pace making chances and goals, but at the cost of midfield possession.

    I'm pretty sure it'll be 3pm tbh ...

... for viewing figures alone it makes more sense and that's what they want.

An early goal is important whichever side manages to score it , hopefully it will be us but the spectre of our last 2-1 lead in the play-offs is still too painful to ignore completely. And makes our late miss , not the Mayenda half chance a big moment in the tie. I am expecting the same team will be picked again to start the game and would be surprised if any changes are made to the starting line up .

It does seem to just be whether we want to control a game or sit back and counter whether he goes for a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3. I think there's plenty other games where maybe in hindsight a 4-4-2 could have worked but if we are miles better than the opposition I don't mind trying to control it - from what I gathered Le Bris needs pace out wide in a 4-3-3 and although we managed to control a lot of games there wasn't much threat on either flank.

Tuesday night is going to be fascinating, Coventry know we have the pace to really hurt them on the counter, but we also showed how resilient defensively we cns be as a team.

    Tuesday can't come quick enough

I fully agree, ELF is wasted out wide in my opinion and out right winger should be an impact sub at very best.

Excuse me if it sounds harsh but, ffs, van Ewijk wants a kick up the arse, not an arm round his shoulder.

The way he carried on after we scored, and after the game, was shameful imo.

Yes, you've made a mistake, but waving a white flag sends out the wrong message.

We ought to cheer every time he touches the ball and have him in tears again.

If I was Lampard I'd drop him ...

... if he plays he'll look at our front two and shiit his Sky Blue pants.

Digressing but is this the most pages we have had about a football game? I appreciate the play off promotion game might have had a few but because most of us appear to despise these b*stards we have cobbled quite a few comments together between us <laugh>.

I think for Tuesday I would start with one change in putting Mepham along side Ballard. O9 into midfield and leaving Roberts out. Going to be a battle to control game. O9 Jobe and Neil with Le Fee sitting in front of them centrally. Isidor and Mayenda up top…

Will be a complete sell out. Been a while since we seen that. Especially for a night fixture.

I'd be tempted to keep the same team but moving Mayenda out wide on the left and moving Le Fill inside. 433 will give us hopefully more control in the middle. We've never played a diamond formation plus Ballard and Mepham have not played many games together.
