Just seen the result Had some hope but how all seems lost To be fair, apart from Leeds and Burnley I think Sheffield United are the 3rd best team in this league so fair enough We know we’re a country mile behind the top 3 but that’s what we’ll need to aim for if we want to push on again next season It’s going to be very tough if we don’t spend much money Never mind Up The City
Real good stuff at Coventry and it was obvious that both teams really wanted it and it showed in their commitment and determination right until the final whistle. I couldn't help but notice that 2 ex-City players were out there for Coventry and it looked as if they both put in good shifts. Either of these teams deserve the chance way more than us and yesterday's performance has left me somewhat miffed at why we continue to play on the cheap and expect top class results for nothing. It never works that way and unless someone steps up to the plate with some logical thinking and considerably better transfer activity (if any at all) we might just as well settle down for the next 17 years and hope that our stay in League One will be short and profitable.
Referee should've been nowhere near game - Manning https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cpqej87pj2zo
We had players out on the pitch who are not up to the task of competing in this division and one who clearly believes he should be elsewhere as soon as possible. The front line is unable to get a shot in, yet alone actually score a goal, and it would seem that our attention to that serious flaw, which was well known prior to the start of the season, has been dismal at best and shocking at worst. The summer newcomers fell flat on their faces and didn't even looked like they had ever kicked a football in their lives. That money was totally wasted and how much better it could have been used in January to make an actual attempt to strengthen our squad to be more competitive and, perhaps if whoever was responsible for the transfer debacle had been fired and replaced, we might not be where we are right now.
Not up to the task yet came 6th in the league?? Why is it every-time we lose, they are not good enough so let’s blame, summer recruitment, LM, BT, SL, JL or the water. Why can’t we accept we was 0-0 with 11 v 11 until Dickies **** up and then got beat by a team who finished 22 points above us with Premier league players. And parachute wages etc. No we’ve finished 6th in the league best position since 2008 but the players are not up to the task now. Here’s a novel idea, why not congratulate the team for getting us here, as there are 18 other clubs who wanted to be here. Plus it’s a mountain but it’s not actually over at the moment.
I might be over the top but I echo your thoughts and comments 100% Edit - I might add I''m not a big JL & BT fan but facts are facts.
Agree with most, however even though we were level whilst 11v11 the difference in quality was evident, also their subs were of a different quality to ours. We did amazing to get top 6, and everyone involved should rightly be praised, and maybe now isn’t the time, but we do need to be realistic if we want to achieve the ultimate, promotion to the PL we do need better recruitment, and our academy needs a pathway again.
Really, why not blame Max as well, you really will never see Dickie as being at fault for anything will you….
Ffs Supcon, have a look at Vyner's absolutely non contribution attempt at going with Moore. Dickie was definitely caught between 2 while Vyner didn't mark 1. Just ask yourself why Vyner didn't see and cover across.
Yes they are but at that time it was still 0-0. We held them at their place with the same gulf in players. We probably we have held them to 1-1 at our place till Dickie had his rush of blood in that game as well. One signing I really want us to make is a replacement for Pring. He’s not even a great player but everytime he’s out injured we lose balance. IMO we would have lost regardless when Williams went off. We lose that drive when he’s not on the pitch. As he defends high up. Our good run went with Sykes as once again it’s the balance and outlets that have gone. We’ve a good starting lineup but replacements we struggle.
He was Dickies player to mark. Vyner coming across would leave Campbell on the left. Why can’t you just see it for what it was. Dickie got torn apart by an aging Moore. Vyner playing LCB is not going to work as he is too much right sided. It’s not natural to him. Square pegs in round holes.
He won't see it, he has the same in awe staus of Dickie as Red Robin has of Nige. As someone once said, "you can't educate pork"
Rod I agree, 99% of the time Moore was Dickie's to mark, can you imagine Vyner or Tanner having that job ? And yes Vyner's man from the start was Campbell, but have a look where Campbell was when Dickie got caught, he's miles away from the central danger. Wrong to say Vyner should be marking Campbell then. On that occasion Vyner should have come across seeing his mate caught between 2. Supcon , I can't bother with you...... I'd have to draw pictures.
When we lost our forward drive in Sykes and Pring to injury it was game over. We messed up at the seasons start with panic buys and messed up further in jan when the obvious weakness was not addressed. For what it worth with two quality strikers we would have given LEEDS and Burnley a run for their positions.
And yet over the two legs in the normal championship we got 1 point from them. With a full squad of fit players we’d give them a run for their money. There was a period, I think it was just after Christmas, where McNally was our only injury, however Thursday was different, Sykes was out,as was Pring, Max is injured and Williams was playing, but not fit, and ended up probably making his injury worse. Our squad is too small and the drop off between first 11 and squad players is too great.
I actually did think Max was slow to close Moore down, he should of went for the ball and taken everyone out, chances are if he had it would have been a pen and a yellow for Max as he would’ve been deemed as going for the ball?
