Make our money back at least depending on where you take the fee from

I can't imagine the £7m in add ons will be touched after our performance this season! I suppose some of it could have been appearances based but doubt it'll be much.

Yeah I’m sure part of it was about survival. But things like England call ups could be in there so who knows exactly how much we owe. I can’t imagine Arsenal being too happy with a big chunk of that being based on survival when it was obvious we were going down from about July last year.

Danny Ings to be released from West Ham. Surprised to come on here and not see anyone saying they’d take him.

I probably would to be honest, for free, in the championship, on a short contract. Not sure if he’d get a premier league move now.

I’d take him and Coufal who is also being released. We desperately need some experience.

Because there is zero chance of it happening.

No, no and a big fat no.

Those on twitter are getting far too excited about the possibility. Ings up front, Ralph back as manager. 2020 all over again. My opinion? Let it gooooo ...

We'd have more chance with Del Boy and Rodney as the Dynamic Duo

I wouldn't want Ings back as a starter. I wouldn't want him back on big, or even medium, wages. I wouldn't want him back on a two or three year contract.

But a one year contract, on low wages, where he comes in as a squad player? If that was possible, I'd be happy with that. I've said before that the loan market and free transfer should be looked at this summer, to both limit our transfer expenditure and ensure that we're not left with players in 12 months time who we wouldn't want in the PL (if we get promoted).

    Saw this on Reddit.

Interesting to see Charles ranked second. His passing is relatively low, which was his weakness under Martin. Used as an actual tackling, ball-carrying DM though, he looks great.

We cannot afford to go into another season taking the midfield lightly. Sheaf, Hackney, there are a few we've been linked with before. Downes, Charles, and another from the top end of this list would be a good start.

If I could choose one Championship player to sign this summer, it would be Hackney.

However, I suspect he's heading straight for the PL. Probably someone like Brentford.

My mates all rave about Jason Knight. Might be too expensive though.

Ultimately they all will be costing a lot and if we are going to be spending £10m or whatever on a player next year it has to be with an eye that they can make the step up to the PL, a lot of the players on that list I don’t think could/have tried and/or are old.

Hackney, Knight, Robertson and Louza I could be interested in taking a look at for the right price. Think I’d prefer a loan of a fringe PL midfielder like we did with Downes though

Was gonna say we should look at the Bristol lads. Haven't seen anything of them myself, personally, but the playoff finish suggests they might be decent.

Think Knight is the better of the two (from what I’ve been told anyway) but City tend to get biggish fees for their players (Scott and Semenyo both went for £15m+ I think) so I doubt he’d be cheap.

Yeah I'd be looking to spend to spend most of our budget on this position. Defence is fine. Attack looks sh*t right now, but that is because of the quality of Prem defences, and also because our midfield is so bad.

Ben Sheaf is out of contract in 2026, so could be a good option.

Yeah potentially. Attack on paper should do well in the Champ. Full backs and keeper could be where we want to spend as well.

Ultimately we should be buying players who we think/hope can make the step up, which is hard to do. Loans seem like a better option to me, even if, if you get promoted, you potentially have a lot more to do in the summer before the PL season.

Who knows at this point though. Could be lots more or lots less turnover than we are expecting. I have a feeling Armstrong and Diaz are both going to leave and that suddenly makes our attack look weak at Champ level depth wise at least

If none leave then I think FB options look fine tbh. Wellington/Manning and Bree/Sugawara should be more than enough for the championship.

I think we'll definitely need to sign a striker though.
