i am not sure if mercedes will provide any of the big teams bright , ferrari and red bull obviously wont be interested , mclaren are looking at honda for 2014 , that only leaves the mid table teams if they are still mid table when 2014 comes around -

I wonder what Mclaren will do for engines, Honda is a possibilty, Renault and Ferrari are not an option, so if the Honda partnership fails to happen it is really Mercedes or making their own. It will be interesting to see which engine is the best come 2014.

I thought Martin Whitmarsh said they had a "chat" with a few people, but nothing even close to a deal regarding future engines?

    Link please :)

It's all pie in the sky at the moment who will use what.

But I thought McLaren had a contract with Merc until 2015?

They do. I think it's unlikely to be extended though, didn't the relationship between the two companies sour when Merc bought Brawn?

If it was that bad I'm sure they could get out of their contracts. At the moment, I'd say Mercedes need McLaren more than the other way around.

I thought it was when Mclaren built their own road car.

I think Mercedes were trying to take full control of McLaren for years but McLaren wouldn't let them, so that bit was uneasy but they put up with it. Then I think the falloit was triggered by McLaren making their own engine for the MP4/12C and not using a Mercedes engine.

realistically no one needs to decided until early 2013, then they'll have to start thinking about chassis' and the like. I can see McLaren trying a Honda tie up for racing and road car reasons, but then again going it alone does have the kudos (as well as the risk).
