My personal experience working with a few who have “master’s degrees” in computer science is the same though I’m struggling to think of one I’d give a job to.

The problem is only going to get worse imo with recruiters carrying out remote interviews and coding tests - AI !

Some of our Devs are running code through AI to debug etc but some are actually using it to code !

They say they then verify etc but I don’t believe them . Lazy well paid bastards!

I’ve had three nightmares to deal with who couldn’t do the ****ing job if you trained them for a million years. I constantly had to fix their code even though I wrote down pseudo code for them. When I say “fix” I mean “completely rewrite”…

Since we are having a whinge about the quality of Indian software developers as an aside to discussing the merits (or lack thereof) of the UK-India Trade Deal, I will chip in an say that I have worked with a couple of them in this country and a couple of testers. No problems with the testers as much of that work is automated these days so if they know how to set up the software and run it they can do the job just as well as the natives. There are some competent code monkeys but there are plenty that are not. I went to India once to the outsourced IT facility of a client company. We had been supplied with a system by the client company and we wanted a piece of bespoke work doing. They would not give us the source code to make the change ourselves and wanted £50k to do it. There was no-one on the team in India on the equivalent of £10k and most of them seemed a bit lacking in necessary expertise to do what was wanted. Eventually somebody in our management realised that this new system was going to cost a fortune to maintain and the system got dropped along with the client company.

The Indian companies that bid successfully for British public sector contracts (like Infosys) will simply send their code monkeys over to the UK to do the work rather than hire much more expensive locals. So it is difficult to see how the incompetent government are trying to push this one as “more money in working people’s pockets” when there will be less work for British people and even more costly over-runs on public sector contracts. At least the local curry houses should be able to get chefs in but they will have to keep replacing them as they cannot stay permanently.

The Tories never signed this Trade Deal because it has more holes in it than a Swiss cheese. The loonies picked it up and rushed it through so that, like most other things in the last ten months, they could claim the credit when it was virtually nothing to do with them. Reynolds will be in Karachi working on a deal to bring in Pakistani school teachers for Bridget Phillipson.

Honkies don't want to wipe arses and feed soup to dribbling pensioners like ER so we import unqualified Nigerians to do it for us. Diversity though.

Yes exactly. The Nazis didn't go far enough with their vision for the Fatherland.
