The more I think about this, the more splinters I get in my arse from sitting on the fence .... I can see arguments for both sticking and twisting and neither convince me either way. I think it all boils down to who the replacement would be and also if acun has serious doubts over selles ( either rightly or wrongly) then is it ever going to work or would keeping he just delay the inevitable to further down the line.

I really haven't enjoyed selles football ( so far ) but he's done the job he needed to do which was stay up and it doesn't matter if it's on GD or by 10pts. The results of relegation were catastrophic and with him doing what was needed he deserves a chance to kick on for me.

I think all of us would have enjoyed Selles football more if he'd been able to call on Belloumi, Millar, Matazo and Barry - the damage caused to our season by those four ACL's can't be underestimated, talk of a replacement now is plain crazy.

Really? That's simply not true. Capped at every level by Turkey including 6 full caps by age 22/23. 140 games in Turkish SL. He was an exciting prospect but unfortunately didn't work out (due to injury and possibly other issues).

140 games and how many goals?

The argument I’m making is that Sinik’s record prior to joining us on paper is piss poor
Five caps for Turkey (his sixth was won while at City), hardly a hopeless case. He made a lot of appearances and scored a few goals - as you would expected from a promising young wide man.

he has proved a terrible signing. But his numbers prior to joining City don’t suggest that at all.

Reactions: Gone For A Walk
Whatever the outcome of this review, it's piss poor that it's playing out in public and going on for days like this and it will almost feel like Selles is a dead man walking even if they decide not to sack him now. And it isn't the media's fault for reporting on it.

Get your **** together and make your decisions in private. We should've been clear on what we're doing within hours of the final whistle on Saturday, at the very latest. Other clubs will be working on signings already whilst we piss about putting our manager through a public evaluation process. I said something similar last summer when we were looking for a manager whilst everyone else was working on players, and that worked out great.

We need to show that we have learned lessons from this season and the early indications on that front are quite troubling I think.
“Yeah but Fenerbahce have a match on Friday. Just bear with me…..”

If I told this forum there’s a rumour we are signing Darren Cynic from Stockport tomorrow for £4m and he’s got 140 appearances and 6 goals I would wager anything that it would be laughed out the door.

If he had five caps for Czechia, how would that change things?

This is from a Reading site, talking about how Selles transformed them after a poor start;

A modern 4-2-3-1 formation, flying full-backs, inverting midfielders, rapid wingers, ball-playing centre-backs and an all-round striker, and of course that famous press. Don’t underestimate the value of having a settled starting XI either.

What’s more, it’s all from using players from the academy, on frees or on loan.

Now we can see how he has struggled to implement his style without a transfer window…

flying full-backs - nope. A steady pro known more for his defensive work and a Centre back at full back.

rapid wingers - nope. Our best wingers were all injured, forced to play central midfielders or centre forward.

ball-playing centre-backs - Nope. Hughes (yes), but Jones certainly isn’t and Egan has many capabilities but I wouldn’t call him a ball player

all-round striker - Maybe Pedro many years ago. Joseph - No.

that famous press - we tried but again, didn’t have the personnel across the pitch to carry this out.

How anyone could call for Selles head when he wasn’t anywhere near having the players to carry out his style of play. If we recruit new full backs and add pace to the team we might see a remarkable turnaround next season in the style of play. Ruben can point to his Reading transformation to back this up.

Why roll the dice again?

Yeah, that’s actually pretty damning. If he didn’t have the players to set up how he likes, he should have set them up a different way that suited what he’s got.

That’s what a good manager would have done. Exactly like Steve Bruce did for us.

What, like decent defence, **** attack so play to your strengths, keep it tight and hope you nick one?

Since Selles came into the club, we have the 4th best defensive record in the Championship.

Behind only Leeds, Burnley and Sheffield United on goals conceded.

All those criticising any of the defence, that is not the problem.

And the worst attack in the division, by far.

I'm hoping the speculation over Ruben Selles is overblown and that our owner will see sense, but the thing which seems daftest of all is that I'm sure when he appointed Ruben, he said something about he could have made a safer choice such as Alex Neil but that Selles had greater potential. In other words, the risk around Selles was primarily in the short term - would he have enough experience to manage a relegation battle? He's managed that, despite numerous injury setbacks and without a Championship level goalscorer, and done so in a very calm manner. Surely next season is when the owner could expect to see the potential he has invested in start to get unlocked?

The 'Sellés' review is all part of the Acun experience, he will have 'assets' feeding the narrative to Baz and Mike White.
.
Has anyone actually said it's a "Selles review"?
Every club will have an end of season review. Why would we be any different.
Honestly, it's embarrassing some of the stuff posted on here.

Acun doesn't want a proven head coach, he wants a yes man who he thinks is malleable.

Are you seriously making a comparison of a (made up) player from Stockport versus someone who has 6 senior caps for Turkey and has played 140 games in their SL? Really?
