'Twas I. 30% of our goals this season have been meaningless. Meanwhile only Bmouth have scored more goals in the final quarter of games than us. Which suggests 1) We have higher fitness levels than most 2) We are usually chasing games 3) Our higher fitness levels allow us to worry opposition teams late on but 4) Our league position indicates that our late flourishes are usually futile.
Our performances in the EL have been far from convincing. Plenty of very iffy performances and results in the mix. We certainly haven't put anyone to the sword. And in all honesty, most of the teams we've faced would be relegation candidates in the PL. Frankfurt, Roma and Galatasary probably the only obvious exceptions. We only won once in four games against those. That tells you everything you need to know. He is by a distance the worst Spurs manager I've ever seen. And I grew up on a diet of Christian Gross.
Level of opponents has massively helped him. The win away in Germany was decent. The rest nothing special.
Looks like Maddison will definitely miss Thursday. Bergvall out. Son doubtful. Waiting for the inevitable update re Solanke...
Sorry, I didn't phrase my response clearly...I meant that B/G had a free week between the ties just to add to our misery...
Just looked up the weather in Tromso. On Thursday night, it will be a balmy 4ºC. Tonight and tomorrow will be a more invigorating 1ºC. Why do I fear that we will be totally unprepared for the weather, the pitch, the atmosphere, their returning players and their consequent improvement? Please...prove me wrong!! Please...?
I'm worried about this too, especially given our most recent losses to injury. Plenty of teams have gone there in recent years and and underestimated everything you've described. We've spent the whole season underestimating pretty much everyone apart from Manchester City and ourselves.
We will not get through on Thursday, that late goal in the home leg has opened up the tie completely. The loss of Bergvall and Maddison has removed our ability to retain possession which will be vital in the away game. We have such a fragile mentality that a Bodo goal in the first quarter will leave us clinging on for dear life and in those circumstances we would very likely capitulate. I have very low expectations and whilst I will be delighted if do we make it to the final, I won't be cross when we don't, it will be just the final nail in this seasons coffin bringing down the curtain on our worst season in the 21st century and on Ange's time in charge.
I'll be cross...just not surprised. It's who we are...not the bride...not even the bridesmaid...we're the seldom seen cousin, who nobody expected to come, nobody speaks to and is inappropriately dressed.
People making travel plans would appreciate the advance notice Of course, the fact Man Utd are playing that Friday also plays into it, as even The FA wouldn't be that blatant
Talking about injuries, I remember a few years ago when there appeared to be a higher than average injury-count at clubs playing on artificial pitches.I'm sure things have moved on and improved, but combining near zero temperatures with that surface and our general propensity for self-inflicted wounds, it's difficult to imagine us coming through a tie there unscathed!
