It's probably an elaborate bluff timed to coincide with a widely-anticipated statement from Trump during his Mid-East trip next week. His meetings with the Saudis and Qataris will be key. Israel currently has nowhere near the number of reservists drafted to active duty to implement this plan any time soon. And a significant shift between pre and post the first ceasefire has been the reluctance of reservists to step forward. 19 months of near-relentless conflict has ruined the economy and family life with hundreds of thousands of (usually fathers and men/women of working age) having zero routine throughout that time. I personally know at least a dozen very bright and talented young men who were let go by their multinational employers, who (understandably) couldn't just wait indefinitely for their employees to return from active duty. There is very little appetite among the reserve core to fully engage with 'Chapter Two', especially given declining public opinion about Netanyahu's ability to make a rational decision. I'm expecting a new ceasefire proposal from Trump while he's there, with the same 'take it or we're out' ultimatum he gave Zelensky attached to it. It will probably involve the return of all remaining hostages but in exchange for what? I'm not sure.
I think more and more ordinary Israeli's are beginning to see that Netanhayu's plans are nothing to do with returning the hostages or protecting Israel's security and are in fact all about ethnic cleansing and occupying more Palestinian territory, both because he is a psychopath who wants to remain in power, and because he knows that he faces criminal charges once he's out. He also knows that the ultra right wing zionists are the people keeping him in power and so to appease them, he is hell bent on the complete destruction of Gaza and its people. The reservists are beginning to revolt again these abhorrent plans as ordinary families are witnessing Israel resort to starvation as a weapon against children after a year and a half long failed military operation that has seen nothing but the slaughter of tens of thousands of innocent people, the destruction of whole cities and towns still no return for the rest of the hostages. Despite the Govt propaganda, people are beginning to wake up in Israel as to what the actual agenda is. I was listening to a podcast the other day that had an Israeli reservist speaking. He said that after Oct 7th, he felt as though he was on a just mission, to protect his homeland and his people. He said that he felt part of something that needed to be done to protect Israel's future. He then went on to describe what he did and saw there, being ordered to shoot on anybody regardless of whether they had been identified as a threat. He said that his orders were to treat everybody as a potential threat and to 'neutralise' them. He said that after months of deployment he was suffering from PTSD from seeing what the IDF were doing to people who clearly were not combatants. And he has now turned 180 on the whole thing and is calling for the war to end
'Kill zone': Israeli troops recount arbitrary shootings of Palestinians in Gaza 'Nitzarim axis' Israeli officers, soldiers compete to kill most Palestinians in corridor cutting across enclave, reports daily Haaretz Israeli officers who served along the Nitzarim axis, a corridor in central Gaza, have revealed that their army systematically shoots all Palestinians who approach the area, regardless of whether they are children or unarmed civilians, and leaves their bodies exposed to scavenging by dogs. Based on testimonies from several Israeli commanders and soldiers, the investigation was published on Wednesday evening by the daily Haaretz, revealing ongoing acts of genocide in the Palestinian enclave for over 14 months. A commander in the 252nd Armored Division revealed to Haaretz that soldiers are enforcing what they call a "line of dead bodies." He added: "After shootings, bodies are not collected, attracting packs of dogs who come to eat them." According to another officer from the division who recently completed his reserve service, units, brigades, and divisions along the Nitzarim axis compete to kill the most Palestinians. He added: “If Division 99 kills 150 (Palestinians), the next unit aims for 200.” The investigation included numerous accounts from officers who served in the area, detailing arbitrary killings and the casual classification of Palestinians as "terrorists" after they are killed.
And there’ll be a lot more like him, traumatised and disgusted. It was G.I.s returning from Vietnam in that condition which forced the USA to question her own militaristic foreign policy; for a while anyway.
I was suspicious as soon as I read that so I looked up who the Daily Haaretz is… A review of publications in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reveals that on key issues, the paper embraces the enemy’s propaganda and serves as an international hub for disseminating its lies against Israel. Which raises the question of whose side the paper stands in this war: Israel or its enemies? Here are a few brief examples published between Dec. 19 and Dec. 27 in the Hebrew edition of the paper, also released in English: On Dec. 19, Haaretz spread blatant lies about the availability of clean water in the Gaza Strip. It referenced a report by the anti-Israel Human Rights Watch about the humanitarian situation, claiming falsely that “Israel is guilty of genocide.” Why? Because immediately after the Hamas-led border infiltration and terror attacks on Oct. 7, 2023, “Israel stopped the flow of water supplied via pipes from Israel, and with the collapse of the power grid in Gaza shortly after the outbreak of the war, desalination facilities also ceased operation. Since then, water flow and desalination have resumed partially via generators.” Haaretz did not bother to check the facts. Had it done so, editors would have discovered that the water pipes resumed operation at the start of thewar and desalination facilities were reconnected to Israel’s power grid long ago. They are now functioning at full capacity. For Haaretz, embracing any anti-Israeli report without question is standard practice. This was the case with Amnesty International’s report accusing Israel of genocide, as a writer for the newspaper viciously attacked Amnesty Israel employees who dared to challenge the report. On Dec. 24, Haaretz embraced another blatant anti-Israeli falsehood, this time concerning the treatment of Bedouin citizens in the Negev as the nearby city of Arad begins infrastructure development on a new neighborhood—one that was approved long ago as part of the city’s development plan and lies within the city’s boundaries. Yet there are no Bedouins within kilometers of the Mitzpeh Yonatan neighborhood, which is a part of the natural expansion of an Israeli city on state lands. Additionally, Bedouins who do live near the city maintain good relations with residents; it is also where many Bedouins work and earn their livelihood. Despite all this, Haaretz labeled those living in the new neighborhood as “settlers.” Beyond adopting the terminology of the enemy, which views all Israelis as settlers, it seems that Haaretzessentially opposes any new Jewish development. For now, at least, Haaretz does seem to be OK with building towers in Tel Aviv, as long as Arabs are also welcomed there. On Dec. 27, Haaretz criticized the elimination of armed terrorists in Gaza and Judea and Samaria. The paper scolded Israeli citizens for not “raising an outcry” against the killing of armed terrorists, expressing the false Palestinian narrative that those killed were, depending on the incident, either innocent residents of the Tulkarm refugee camp or “journalists” who were killed inside a broadcast vehicle in Gaza. This, too, was an anti-Israeli lie. The men killed in Tulkarm featured photographs showing them armedand identifying as terrorists, proudly published by the Palestinians themselves. Thorough research has shown that approximately 84% of Palestinian casualties in Judea and Samaria throughout 2024 were armed terrorists. Similarly, regarding the five “innocent journalists” killed in a news vehicle in Gaza, the IDF said these men were Islamic Jihad terrorists operating from the vehicle. CNN stated that the TV station they worked for was affiliated with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. In just one random week, Haaretzembraced a false anti-Israeli report by Human Rights Watch accusing Israel of committing genocide by denying Gaza water, a claim disproven by a brief fact check. It then proceeded to embrace another falsehood about a “settlement” in the Negev, that is, in fact, a legal neighborhood in the city of Arad. It concluded by portraying the Israel Defense Forces’ elimination of armed and dangerous Palestinian terrorists as the murder of civilians while scolding the Israeli public for not opposing the IDF’s actions. Haaretz also described Israel’s government as a “foreign regime” that must be fought against. Additionally, despite clear statements from the United States that it is Hamas and not Israel that is obstructing a hostage deal, Haaretzcontinues to harshly criticize the Israeli government, giving Hamas hope that Israel might succumb to pressure, thereby harming efforts to retrieve the hostages. What will next week’s coverage bring? Stay tuned.
There are more and more testimonies coming out from Israeli soldiers and reservists now that clearly outline how their commanders are deliberately targeting civilians, homes and infrastructure that has no military justification. As one Israeli medic put it “Ideas like killing the entire population of Gaza suddenly became almost normal… suddenly hearing our commanders say that we’re not going to be merciful this time… I felt like we were going to a very bad place,” he said. Green recalled the immeasurable level of destruction he observed. While some commanders would order the demolition of houses for military purposes, most times it was because “they want to ruin Palestinian houses and they think that’s the right thing to do,” he said. “They don’t really care about the lives of Palestinians… we’ve inflicted so much damage upon Gaza, something that would be beyond the imagination of any reasonable person… I can’t imagine how people would go back to living there,” he continued. The final blow for him was when his commander ordered their platoon to burn down a house in the city of Khan Younis, southern Gaza, that he was sure would be rehabilitated after the war. “I was trying to understand the reasons for that, if there is any military reason… and the commander just didn’t have good enough answers,” he said.
I’m just saying they’ve been shown to report false stuff about Israel and the IDF before. They’ve got an agenda so therefore aren’t a reliable source.
They aren't the only ones reporting it mate. Loads of soldiers and reservists are reporting the same things And thousands of them are now saying they won't go back as they understand what the agenda actually is. IDF reservists call for end to war in Gaza https://news.sky.com/video/idf-reservists-call-for-end-to-war-in-gaza-13361300
That’s better. I can get on board with that because it’s backed up with interviews. I was only contesting what the Haaretz was saying because they could have been made up comments for all anyone would know and they’ve got previous for it.
I never heard you shouting when Ukranians were getting forcibly recruited on the front line. Something I shouted about many times. I'm sure you'd find thousands not 'loads' of young men who wouldn't go back to the Russian front line to be slaughtered. No one likes war, absolutely no one when they actually have to fight in it and yes that includes IDF soldiers. All wars are about agendas, but you only need to use the word freedoms a few times to make it compulsory recruitment. I saw no word from you about the treatment of Yazidi women either, because like everyone else you don't care, yet it probably gives insight to the methods of Hamas as well as within refugee camps and captive situations. Every war has a DNA... https://news.sky.com/story/isis-and-the-yazidis-the-women-they-tried-to-erase-13358490
That’s debatable after my quick 10 minute google read about them. It seems a lot of people would say they’ve got an agenda and have form for lying. I’m reading Jewish folk on a forum talking about them and they’re saying the Haaretz have got staff based in Ramallah who are known for being highly sympathetic towards Hamas

Israeli reservists speak out against Gaza war as pressure on Netanyahu grows "We came to the conclusion that Israel is going to a very bad place," Danny Yatom, a former head of the spy agency Mossad told me. "We understand that what mainly bothers Netanyahu is his own interests. And in the list of priorities, his interests and the interests of having the government stable are the first ones, and not the hostages." https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/crldw5gklrro
Ukraine war: The men who don't want to fight https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-66542065 Some men though don't want to fight. Thousands have left the country, sometimes after bribing officials, and others are finding ways of dodging recruitment officers, who in turn have been accused of increasingly heavy-handed tactics. "Each situation is individual," argues Yehor. "The fact it is written in the constitution that all male citizens must fight is, in my opinion, not in line with today's values."
Given that there are appx 400,000 reserve soldiers in Israel and (depending on who you believe) around 40% are refusing to be re-drafted, I am sure it is impossible to box 160,000 people into one neat reason for refusing the draft. Most 'refuseniks' I speak to are doing so for economic and/or psychological reasons. Many lost their jobs during the first period of conflict, just about secured new ones during the ceasfire, and are now being asked to risk losing their livelihood for a second time. It's not at all surprising they're saying 'go forth and multiply', especially as it is becoming increasing clear that the current govt hasn't got a clue what it is doing and doesn't appear to have a clue how to achieve any of its stated goals when it resumed hostilities. And even those who managed to keep their jobs and/or are blessed with financial security, the toll of being away from their partner and children for weeks if not months at a time over a period of more than a year is just too much, so they're saying 'bugger off'.
KYIV—In Ukraine today, no topic is more barbed than that of compulsory military service. Few want to talk about conscription publicly; men within service age range, 25 to 60 years old, are particularly reticent. “It’s just too sensitive. I hope you understand me,” one man told me, referring to the many families in his circle of friends whose sons, brothers, and fathers are on the front or have perished there. Some fear that speaking out might prompt a letter from the Defense Ministry announcing their call-up. Or worse, they might be plucked randomly by recruitment officers on the streets and, should their documentation prove their eligibility for service, sent straight to boot camp. please log in to view this image Ukrainian serviceman and police officers check the documents of a man in the center of Kyiv on April 25, 2024. You hadn't heard of them until about an hour ago, but following a quick Google you're writing them off as terrorist sympathisers? Okay then.
