Swansea City's director of football Richard Montague says the club have made a fresh contract offer to out-of-contract star Harry Darling. The centre-back is coming to the end of his current deal with the Swans, and speculation over his next move has been rife over the last few weeks. However, there is growing hope that a deal could be agreed with the player and his camp, particularly in light of the decision to hand a long-term deal to Alan Sheehan, whom Darling is understood to have enjoyed working with. Now, Montague has confirmed that a new offer is on the table for the Englishman, who's a doubt for the last-day clash with Oxford United after suffering a knee injury ahead of the defeat at Millwall last weekend due to what Sheehan described as 'an accident'. It remains to be seen whether Darling will pull on a Swans shirt again, with Montague conceding the player's likely to have plenty of options this summer. But he insists the club are going all out to tie him down, with Montague and Sheehan both holding talks with the player this week. "We've made another offer to Harry," Montague said. "We believe it's a strong offer. Harry's in a privileged position where there's an opportunity now to have a look around and really decide what's best for him and his family. "But we believe we've put our best foot forward. Alan and I had him in the office for about an hour earlier trying to persuade him as to why Swansea is the right place for him to continue his career. We really believe it is. We're hopeful of a positive outcome, but we recognise there are a lot of clubs that can offer a lot of things, and Harry needs to do what's right for him and his family.”
This is the one who was rumoured to cost £5m. Our second Swedish player for next season along with Melker Widell who recently won his first full international cap. Looks like the ‘new Yanks’ plus Modric mean business

Yeah, we sorted out the manager and a few incomings instantly. Let’s hope any other signings also happen early so that pre-season can be utilised to the max.
