Is that really true? Having worked out in HK, Singapore and been to Thailand/Malayaisa on holiday - it struck me that Chelsea were more popular than Liverpool - posters/ads/locals wearing replicas etc. It really disappointed me to see how popular they had become in the far East, I'd assumed they were just big in Croydon and Crawley
This is a good read.... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2072066/Liverpool-v-QPR-memories-1991-shock-defeat.html
Ah yes Swordster but are they as MASSIVE as Leeds? After a fine lunch of roast shoulder of lamb with celeriac gratin and a rather wonderful petit chablis I'm trusting that the rest of the weekend will go as well with a nicked 3 points from Anfield. I am looking forward to my visit there and its got to be one of the citadels of English football despite their faded glory. To be perfectly frank with you, Anfield, OT and beating the scum were three highlights of being back in the Prem and we've already achieved one of those targets. Up the R's! Right I'm ringing the Stella bell now and off to the Stag for a livener
That's true of every set of supporters though, just you don't realise it unless you're on the outside looking in. For example Newcastle fans were saying Gervinho was a realistic target for them in the summer and that he would definitely sign for them, I told them he wouldn't and that he'd wait for a CL club to come in or stay at Lille and play in the CL with them. They were convinced that he would come though. They thought he was a realistic target, people on the outside didn't. I'm sure QPR fans have done the same with different players in the past, thinking they would come but in reality they never would sign for QPR.
Here is the relevant part of the article mate: http://www.sportspromedia.com/notes_and_insights/manchester_united_top_of_global_soccer_league/ I agree its disappointing to see Chelsea so popular in areas such as the Far East. How can these fans feel a connection with a club who's hardcore fans are openly racist? I really do not know.
Difference is no other Club that hasn't won the league in two decades believe they are title contenders every season! I don't think there's another Club in the World that's that deluded!
I don't think you have much to fear - I'd just change where in the Far East you are going - try beyond Phuket... http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard-sport/football/article-23971223-liverpool-still-leave-chelsea-feeling-blue-in-malaysia.do http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/opinion/blogs/mirror-football-blog/Chelsea-pre-season-tour-blog-Blues-arrive-in-Malaysia-to-heroes-welcome-as-Premier-League-takeover-of-the-Far-East-continues-John-Cross-article772618.html
Man Utd never won a League title for 26yrs(apart from div 2)and their fans thought they would win it every year. Does that make them deluded or is it just your hatred of LFC that you base your view on?
We don't though. That's just a lie. Some believe we have a chance of challenging for the title, and some hope we can quality for the top 4. Like EVERY other fan base, we have people who get carried away by optimism and some who prefer to stay pessimistic and loads in between the two. I read some QPR fans talking about Europe this season, do I take that to be every QPR fans opinion and use it as a stick to beat your whole fanbase? Nah, because I'm a rational human being, unlike you, it seems. Are you sure your age is 30? You sure you weren't meant to put 13 there?
You probably right North, the cautious sensible approach from the Club, even though he seems to take getting kicked around. But as Jones said he's only probably going, if there was a done deal we probably wouln't hear stuff about being doubtful due a thigh strain.
swords give it a rest mate, it's getting boring. for the record i think Lucaaas has got it pretty much spot on. anyway onto the footy; going to be a great day out tomorrow regardless of the result for all rangers fans, games like this are what we were all dreaming about during our promotion season last year. i'm luckier than most in that i'm at uni up here so its only a half hour journey for me! given Liverpool's injury problems in the midfield and their poor record against the promoted clubs i reckon we've got a fairly good chance of getting something tomorrow. we just need barton and ali to control the midfield and for swp helgs and mackie to keep doing the business. jay needs to step up i'm afraid, not good enough at the moment. i'm still worried about our defence though, against the likes of saurez bellamy and carrol we could just as equally be on to a hiding tomorrow, so this is a tough one to call. i'll try and stay positive and say we'll sneak it 2-1! all in all im just looking forward to a great day out, got the family coming up for this one so roll on tomorrow!
Skylar Grey. You might not've heard of her, but she was the woman signing on the "I need a Doctor" song from Eminem & Dr Dre.
Will do. Was just windin' yis up! It would be great to see the 'Pool win the title again but one step at a time. This season top 4 and maybe C Cup/FA Cup would be a very good season. Then next year start building for an assault on the top spot. I would've preferred had yee won at Fulham because now we're in the firing line for a backlash in a game a lot of Liverpoodlians see as a must win.
