Makes sense in that he's reasonable and free, so it preserves funds for elsewhere. I guess it'll depend on his wage demands.
If we sign him, I'd expect it's because we're spending big elsewhere. Might even free us to get someone like Mbeumo in for the RW.
He's a canny enough player and would provide a different option when. required. Newcastle are going to find it difficult to get a top striker to sign knowing he's going to be on the bench most the time and they'd be very expensive.

If there is another Tonali out there we better sign him up as well! 2 Tonali's in one team would be insane. Squad 25 or under come August this summer: GK, Tino, RCB, Botman, Hall, Miley, Tonali, Willock, RW, Gordon, Isak. If you could get Trafford, Guehi and Dibling for example that has the making of a very good first team over the next 3 years without most of the stalwarts (Pope, Burn, Schar, Murhpy etc.) who'll need replacing by then any way and others like Banes, Joelinton, Bruno who would still be in the team and around 30 years old - so experienced.
I heard something interesting. So there's a few clubs at risk of breaching PSR, most notable Villa and Chelsea - the rumour is that Chelsea are going to pay £40-50m for Rogers, because they're replacing Cole Palmer who's then allegedly heading to Newcastle. Don't shoot the messenger.
Most doubtful rumour award won before the mill has even gotten to full speed. Also, Villa probably won't need to sell Rogers to Chelsea, as PIF keep throwing bags of gold at them. £70m for Duran a few months ago, and supposedly about to now do it again for Bailey and Martinez.

He'd be the dream for that RW, 18 goals and 6 assists this season out there is a great return. £60m for him I'd snatch their hand off, him and Murphy would be a decent pairing, Barnes and Gordon on the other side fine, Isak and Oslua up top plus Gordon, Mubemo for cover there as well. Top and middle of the pitch would look sorted, just a RCB and a GK and we'd be looking very strong.
Did just see that one. Makes me think they are prioritising the RW and CB but also have a lot of faith in Will Osula. If he stays fit (a very big if) he's a decent player who we can roll out against Burnley, Coventry and Malmo FC and between him and Oslua - give Isak a break
It’s a no brainer really. He has to get fit at some point and like you say he is a decent striker. So adequate backup. And that’s what he is now. He gets another year. We get a decent backup striker. And we have Osula to learn from him.
Agreed. He’s just had a nightmare this season. Joelinton is out for the season aswell. Let’s hope for a positive weekend.
