Delap also has a release clause, albeit higher at £30m. Although City have a 20% sell on, so Ipswich will lose their top talent for £24m. I wonder who else they will end up selling.
He is good for the championship and probably a squad player at PL level. Not a massive loss really. Edwards will be starting next season so we already have a replacement.
Yeah CB is the one area we can afford to lose a couple. Even with Janny B, ABK and THB going, we'd have Edwards, Stephens and Wood, with Sanda and Lawrence coming through. Though for only 6m I'd rather Bednarek stayed. Good leader.
Good player at Championship level but after all this time, I'm really not against a fresh start in the CB positions. If he stays, would be pretty happy but won't be too bummed out if he chooses to pursue a new challenge (which I would imagine that he will). He will be one of our highest earners
I would not be disappointed to see an6 of the squad leave except Fernandes as we have not see enough of him. Looking forward to seeing a totally new squad next season with as many moved on as possible.
Understand this but disagree. This is a difficult league to get out and we have plenty who not only know how to do it but would be a massive asset in doing so. If we try to change everything the outcome could just as easily be a catastrophic slide. We should (and I think will) build next year's squad around players like Downes.
Only Fermsndes , Ramsdale and KWP can hold their heads up high this season. We will lose all three. I agree to some degree about Downes but feel he let us down this season by throwing his rattle out of the pram. My wild card to retain would be Chucky....the most improved player for us.
Another Ipswich player with a relegation release clause: £35m for Hutchinson. Still good money in fairness, so it's not like Delap where they will miss out on millions. It makes me wonder if we have any other than Ramsdale and Bednarek. Imagine if it turns out Fernandes has a £30m clause.
Not sure Hutchinson would go for that much anyway? I was thinking more around the £20m mark. Whereas £6m seems too low for Bednarek to me. I was thinking before that came out, that we would get closer to £10m for him.
That seems high for Hutchinson, so not sure anyone will trigger it. Might be interest in him at a lower price but no idea what their financials are like and if they need to sell from a PSR perspective. Most of the players they signed are young and from the Championship or unproven PL players at bigger clubs, so I can’t imagine they have anyone earning huge money so might likely be able to keep their squad together for one season in the Champ if they can. Interesting point about Fernandes and one I hadn’t thought of. But now I am thinking about it I think it’s very likely he does have some sort of clause, and £30m seems about right for when we signed him. Find out in a month or so. Although there was that story about Delap coming to Staplewood and we couldn’t agree a deal with him and everyone was blaming Parsons and Guly but maybe the relegation clause was what caused it to fall through and we didn’t want to give young players with potential a clause
I hope not because he won't be leaving if they don't. I doubt we would even sell at £30m - he has a long contract so it will take something big to sell. If he does go I think it will be closer to £50m than £30m.
If they are genuinely going to sell the club I really can't see too many of the better players hanging on. if they are recruiting new staff will the new buyers go along with who they get? Am some what confused with the bunch of owners at the moment!!
