Don't know, maybe - but I think this ruling goes down to grass-roots level. It's a complex issue that affects many areas of society, not just football, and I haven't really been keeping up with it that well.
There are no transgender players registered at professional level but as far as I can tell from reading what the FA has previously said, they've never been barred from playing at professional level.
Feel like that whole stuff is an absolute minefield and honestly I don’t know how to come to any sort of conclusion as you’re always going to puss off groups of people and objectively I can see both sides of the arguement. Sometimes common sense approach is the best way but doesn’t really work when it comes to law
Has it? Maybe missed something or confused but thought it essentially said only people born as a woman can be classed a woman which really doesn’t help situations where common sense should prevail.
A woman is defined by biological sex. You literally could not have a statement that showed more common sense.
thats not what talking about. You can’t just put that infront of everything as use it. You’re essentially saying all transgender women aren’t women so are therefore men? Thats not using common sense that’s using a black and white approach to it which as I say doesn’t work in most scenarios. Common sense approach - this person was a man for 45 years and has had gender changing surgery - should they now be able to compete against women? Common sense says no as clearly getting an advantage. But if they transitioned at 18, have been a woman for 30 years, testostorene levels are all compatabke for other women etc and want to play in an amateur football game with bunch of other women, then why would you deny it? Not gaining advantage etc. that’s a common sense approach - but like I say, it makes it very difficult to put that into a law.
well common sense tells me that if i was a trans woman but still had a penis i know i wouldn't be using the mens toilet .
Because a lot of men act very violently to trans women and the levels of violence against them are several hundred percent higher than non trans women. Walking into a men's bathroom where there are no cameras and no witnesses could very easily result in a visit to the hospital for them. There are extremely few cases of Trans women misbehaving in women's bathrooms... Unfortunately trans women getting beat up in men's bathrooms is a, it happens every day somewhere kind of thing. Ideally more places will implement single stall bathrooms to keep everyone happy... Not going to happen overnight though. Edit... And I guess it doesn't have to be everywhere as long as enough places do that Trans people can find a bathroom without pissing someone off.
