Not many jobs over a short period of time.

It happens, your experience is limited.

If it happens at every job you’ve ever worked at like the other poster and brush it off as ‘it happens’, then you’re a mug.

I'm a teacher. As you're probably aware, teachers were granted a pay rise after lots of strike action. It was due to be paid starting autumn 2023. Usually, there's a couple months of delay before we receive them and we get a backdated increase in October or November.

Having checked the payslips today, my colleagues and I have still not been paid this increase. Apparently, the county council have made a mistake (what this is, I don't know) and we won't receive the increase until the end of January.

In truth, this doesn't affect me too much although it is annoying. However, I have colleagues who are literally having to rethink Christmas spending because of it. These aren't people who are irresponsible with their spending, rather ones with families that have been hit hard by everything costing more and mortgage rates increasing an incredible amount.

My question is, is there a legal case here because a pay rise that was negotiated and agreed on, that cancelled strike action, has not been paid? I have no understanding of any employment law at all so I could be completely wrong. It does, however, seem unfair that people have not been paid what they are entitled to.

I'm also waiting to see what my union says on the matter as they might have more idea.

Any thoughts are very much appreciated.

Well it does happen haha? Ask anyone you know they’ve probably had it at some point. Happened to me working for the NHS, what other option is there other than to brush it off?

I’m sure they’ll make it up with bonusses, share options, flexible working, child care cover, private health cover, private dental cover & all the other benefits you get working for an employer that isn’t ****.

It goes back to what we already know. Who in their right mind would want to continue running a business heading in this direction?

'While fans will be angry, frustrated and feeling a lot of negative emotions if the worst does happen on Saturday, there will be wider implications for the business and owner Acun Ilicali, given the club have been losing around £500,000 per week based on the most recent set of accounts.'

You sense something has to give and probably will during the summer.

The Spanish company I work for has had a slight delay paying various costs due to the huge power outages. All sorted now.

Obviously I ranted at them and quit because I’m not a mug.

Ye, you're talking about after the cup game against Doncaster back in January. Because he didn't start the game, he didn't qualify for overtime payments, even though played extra time. I've probably made this up.

That doesn’t explain the suggestion by Howden and others of impending doom though. The spending has always been the plan according to Acun, if by some miracle we stay up on Saturday we’re in the same place we’d have been if we finished 7th, another season in the Championship. The suggestion seems to be that we’re doomed if we stay up and even more doomed if we don’t, I’d just like to understand why.

There's a lot of speculation at the moment and you would imagine the owner will wait until after Saturday to reaffirm his commitment to the club or if he's working on plan B. With the brain team Acun relies on I know what I would do asap.

So its just when they threaten to sit on their contracts rather than moving for less we pay the difference then.

Good job that's not likely now isnt it.

In addition to this, it's been well publicised that we were under some sort of EFL probationary supervision process in terms of our spending since the takeover. If we have somehow been able to spend ourselves into oblivion despite that then that's another element of weirdness to the story.
