Here we are again close to the end of our season but for the only time for quite a while we are still in the hunt for the play-offs. Looking back at our last 2 losses against Luton and Leeds we are facing an uphill battle to get there but we can still do the deed, but making everything harder than it needs to be is our strongest point. Any advantage we had with 2 fixtures ago based on GD has been obliterated because we have essentially allowed other teams to get above us in that department and regrettably all of those doubts we had about our validity this season have returned in droves. What footballer with any self respect would allow this to happen when we could have put this to bed with a good result at Kenilworth Road but we chose our common route of not showing up and putting in a pathetic performance to boot. Now it is solely up to our players to complete the job at hand and to do that you must stick to the plan and put in 110% effort if you really want it because anything less will not be accepted. We have achieved more than I expected after the summer transfer debacle which did nothing to make us truly better but I still suspect we have gremlins that might halt our progress and the biggest one for me is the inconsistency we continue to show. How nice it would be if we got a well controlled victory over PNE to seal the deal but like me I'm sure many of you have developed a squeak in a certain body part.
Win lose or draw on Saturday, I didn’t imagine for a second last August that we would be competing for a playoff spot in what seemed a very tough league with many more fancied teams than little old Bristol City It’s almost unbelievable
Absolutely my thoughts angelic and it would be a major disappointment if we were to miss the play-offs entirely after getting here with what must be truthfully be called a moderate squad. Our summer attempts to boost the team failed badly when you consider that the supposed leading light has already left for Austria possibly never to return and some of the dross that I expected to leave are still here and offering our best scoring hopes. I can't truly say I entered this season with huge hopes but we are at a point whereby we can improve on that in style, but only if we win against Preston on the weekend. The cards will fall wherever we let them but a win to get us possibly to another level can end the season on the most positive mood for yonks. Message to all: Please don't let your dreams down this time. We all want it so badly.
Our small squad is stretched, injuries problematic at the worst time, it was important not to pick up injuries and keep the score down, sadly Robert’s lacked the ability to track attackers back, persistantly, 2-0 down ok, 4-0 makes goal difference difficult, please start Morrison on Saturday!
Still not having this one. somebody should hide players keys for those flash motors at the high performance centre as punishment.
Totally out-classed all over the place and we still have players out there who are only League One, at best. Until the time arrives when we know who are the better players and know how to get them to Ashton Gate we won't have a snowball's chance in hell because lower league players are unlikely to meet the standard required to stick around. I know Wrexham are owned by Hollywood and Canada with lot's of dosh but look at the players they signed to go on their remarkable run from non-league to possibly playing us next year. Jamie Vardy will probably be there next season to add to hype whereas we just continue down the same old lousy road to nowhere specific. Have I put enough negatives in there yet to motivate these players to do better things and get us to a special place? I darned well hope so!
Let’s hope so Without their ‘Hollywood’ stars would they have ever attracted the likes of United Airlines as a sponsor or have been able to spend the money on the stadium refurb ? I really hope they are limited as to what they can get away with in the Championship based on their crowds in L1 of about 12000
