    Welcome – ‘Up Pompei’ etc.

What’s the vibings your way then? I suspect it’s a mantra of ‘relegate the northern simian scum’?

We’re a self defecating lot up here so we don’t mind.

The general feeling is that we want to beat Hull so that you get relegated, and we might have a chance to sign Abu Kamara again. The young lad was terrific last season for us, and Pompey fans think the way he was treated after he liked one of his ex-teammates scoring a goal on social media was abysmal. Your Scummer manager was well out of order parading him front of the cameras for an apology. It looked like one of those hostage videos!

I'm not sure where you have been playing Kamara recently (he was being played left midfield when we played you at your place, and he is less effective there - on the right wing he is mustard).

I'm in Hull this weekend, so looking for a pub to maybe watch the game in.

Interestingly, the bookies on Oddschecker seem to have both us and Luton as favourites to win our games, and Bristol City as favourites to beat Preston. Yet we, and Luton, are a shorter priced to be relegated than Preston, with us as the favourites to go down. Yet if we and Luton both win, and Preston lose — as the bookies predict — it will be Preston who are relegated. I’m sure there’s a mathematical reason but it’s slightly bizarre.

I agree. Which is why it’s so weird we are favourites to win.

The sensible thing for Pompey is to let us win, because the way things are going we’re nailed on for relegation the following season, and that would be one of the berths filled and less risk for you.

A lot of Pompey fans - me included - would rather see Luton relegated because they still have their parachute payments from the PL next season. Our budget is the smallest in the division, so we want to get rid of the big spenders. I would also quite like to see Hull stay up to give me an easy away game to get to (I split my time between Aberdeen and Hull these days). And all my wife's family are from Hull.

There's more chance of us selling Kamara if we stay up than if we go down I would think.

Really? When was this ballot of Pompey fans taken?
Maybe replace “a lot” with “a few” or maybe or even just “I” to make your comment more accurate.

just covering themselves arent they, cos people like me when doing their accas just look at teams who have something to play for against teams who dont, and it rarely comes off that way to be fair, not when i bet anyway, see Boro v Norwich on saturday :(

a lot if it is subconcious though isnt it, teams dont go out there not too try.
its just they might be at 90% capacity instead of 100, its just human nature.
do you put your head in where it hurst when youve got a fornight in Benidorm coming up ( or wherever they go ) <laugh>

Not me – if you look closely, it’s “we’re”, a contraction of “we are”.

The “we” in question is polite; arguably either royal or editorial.

And a prominent ER-based forum member on here craps themselves daily – so it felt apt.

yea thats true, they won't be up to their usual, even 1% off can be a difference, but i can also see them playing with the 'reins' off
and they have already shown, they can score a lot in some games... or get smashed.. big party atmosphere

    but how we gonna score?
