To all intents and purposes it's the SMC's for the duration of the lease.

The taxpayer paid to build it. The taxpayer should not be footing the bill to maintain it.

Council does have a responsibility to promote growth and investment too though, so they may need to relinquish more control as the asset matures, otherwise it could be left with a dilapidated white elephant with no purpose once the lease expires.

Not having a go at you Lee but I do get a bit frustrated by people on Twitter gloating about be careful what you wish for as if everyone should have meekly accepted the Allams because there was a risk things could go wrong with whoever bought us. I've been cautious/skeptical of Acun from the start but the transformation of the supporter base and the season we had last year has made his reign worth it AS LONG AS we aren't falling off a cliff into the oblivion. Which I can't see happening AT THIS STAGE.

Orange watches dodgy porn, ****s a lot, drinks alone, has imaginary friends & doesn’t leave the house often.

    That’s my guess.

    Proper disrupted my morning ablutions.

That’s a good point, if Acun’s financials were seriously ****ed surely Maribor would be the first to be sold?

The same Maribor who are second in their league with a chance of European football 'again' next season. Might make a better investment than us. Ben' Tetteh BTW 8 goals 15 games.

Yeah I guess it depends what his goals are, I always assumed we’d be at the top of his football pyramid but maybe we’re not

Maribor will have cost peanuts compared to here, their three club record signings were €400k, €500k and €1.2m, it’s League One money.

This is the thing that Acun has been trying. He’s bought Fortuna, Shelbourne, Maribor and ourselves. We are the most expensive probably all with a view to get the respective team into a lucrative tournament and flip the team quickly. Fortuna and Shelbourne it blew up in his face. Shelbourne did it so quickly as they actually stood up to him.

For the other 3 teams though they’re relative peanuts and with ever expanding ways of getting into European tournaments it’s not unreasonable to fluke one into the group stage of the champions league (most likely Maribor) and immediately you’ve got a profit on your asset. With us I would imagine it was just wanting to get into the premier league given its relative riches. It’s failed. The route back for us is long and arduous even if we stay up. He’s not realised that non parachute teams have to build a project and gradually improve. All the recent non parachute examples show this with Bournemouth, Brighton, Brentford and even Luton. Coventry will probably be the next and I wouldn’t be surprised if they managed it this year.

It’s not so much losing interest I think it’s more that he’s probably seen the writing on the wall from an investment perspective.

They are second in the league right now, giving them a berth in the second qualifying round of the Europa Conference League. Not an accolade associated with millions of anything.

I was. That was 15 years ago and since then relegation clauses have become almost the default in all contracts.
