Got no bleedin' choice with the doom mongers on here. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
And people will mock it and say he's full of ****, but his record on this stuff is miles better than anyone else's. He's been the one saying this in the past when all the rumours were that Acun was off. And he's been right.
Just been out for a late night walk (too nice an evening not to) and listened to this. Good listen tbf. Baz, Kathryn and Prutts nail it on several related topics. Interesting they share the same view as to what's gone wrong since the break (the change in approach from Selles). And as already mentioned, that Baz doesn't believe Acun is looking to sell. Of course, they could be wrong too (I doubt it). Reassuring to hear some sensible discussion and not self harming rumour mill bollox.
Yeh, I'm not the biggest fan of the show in general but it was a particularly good listen today. On the sale thing. Baz started to bumble a bit and although he said he didn't get the sense Acun was looking to sell, he did seem to be holding back some sort of information and saying let's just get Saturday out the way. Although that maybe just his journalistic senses knowing it's good for business to leave something floating around out there.
He "doesn't get the impression Acun is going to sell the club" Doesn't mean he isn't looking to sell. But he's simply not going to be able to sell in L1. They absolutely summed it up when they said Saturday was going to be a huge sliding doors moment. Any talk of interested consortia doesn't amount to much until there's cash on the table and there's a period of exclusivity, which we'd surely have heard about if anything was in any way close.
Howden and Toast have both stated today that we’re in financial trouble and he’s looking to sell. You can bury your head in the sand if you want but the truth is there for you to see if you choose to.
You misquoted. Baz "doesn't get the impression Acun's gonna sell" That's not saying he isn't looking to sell. And it was also commented on it not being in a saleable condition in league 1. Which is the massive concern here. But believe what you want to. It'll be pretty obvious soon enough anyway.
So? If it's about finding cash then you sell what you need to. If it's about PSR (which isn't cash) then of course you want to maximise profit. We're talking about two different things.
Assuming Hughes and Pandur. Some of the stalwarts for a few hundred k each maybe. Don't see us coming close to breaking even on some of them though. There's an instant 11m funding shortfall in league 1. I'm not sure we have 11m of assets to sell and then we'd still have to replace them and contend with a loss in match day/sponsorship/merch revenue also. And we've got some pretty expensive liabilities that we couldn't shift if we wanted to, because they won't be fit for the summer window. But I'm sure it's fine. Syd reckons we have relegation clauses. .
Bloody hell transfer fees aren't the only income, the 11m shortfall will also be recouped through wage reductions in not just those players being sold but other players too. The notion that all clubs don't have relegation clauses is just nonsensical. Are you an accountant by trade? Because you talk with such authority on things you seem to have very little idea about.
So you think selling a 5m asset for 2m out of desperation doesn't have a long term effect on your ability to compete? You can sell everyone decent for peanuts and not cover your losses, then have to sell any youngster that's showing any promise, but you can't hold out so some other club makes the profit and all of a sudden its a race to the bottom. jesus you're so green.
