From an early age, one of my granddaughters decided she wanted to become a vet. France has a limited number of training schools, so they are reserved for nationals. She did think she could train in the UK, despite the huge debt she would run up, until she met a British vet who now farms after his qualifications became non-recognized after Brexit. She is currently at university taking a degree in natural science. Determined to keep trying, she has her application in to become a French national, and is hoping that being well qualified, and the right nationality she will get a training place here.

Scan result clear for Mrs Fez. Back in four months for another exam, then another around Xmas time. If they go well then a scan 12 months after that.
Make no mistake this is very much against the norm: 1 in 4 survive 5 years with this beastie, and after 5/6 op's over the years, 25 doses of radiation and 5 doses of chemo (throughout Nov '23), and she's into year 7. It will come back as there is no cure, but for now her cells are behaving. Long may it continue! Celebrated with an overdose of chocolate as alcohol is, sadly, off her menu for the moment.

I'm going to have to read this properly.
I always twitch when I see an opinion piece starting off with "NIMBY's".
We can see the enablement works from my front door. The temporary traffic lights (bridge over the tunnel site towards Ellesborough) are even more annoying than the school sports pitch floodlights in between.
They're trying to get an alternative route through Dobbins Lane, which is even worse, wholly unsuitable.

I commute along the A413, under the new bridge with the new bendy road. And then to the football! The whole thing is an absolute waste of money!!! Beyond a joke. Starts in the wrong place, ends nowhere. The North is screaming for a new rail infrastructure schemes and we waste billions upon billions on this vanity project. AAAARRRGGGHHHHH!!!!

And don't start me on the state of the roads, or the lorries that illegally rumble past my house every night before dawn. :emoticon-0121-angry:emoticon-0121-angry:emoticon-0121-angry:emoticon-0121-angry:emoticon-0121-angry:emoticon-0121-angry

I'm afraid that Mr Robbins has got completely the wrong end of the stick as I understand it.
hs2 were being restricted to one articulated lorry per day, with no restriction on other vehicles. A fully laden articulated lorry weighs in at 73Tonnes. One per day.
No restriction on the 34T, 42T, or 52T vehicles, PLUS supporting traffic.
We also know that hs2 probably aren't averse to bending the rules to breaking point (most big developments sail close to the wind, so nothing unusual there, that's life) and I know that traffic that is not supposed to trundle through Wendover and other areas surely does.
The council, of course, can't say this but they have been able to find a way to stop the Dobbins Lane fiasco: the road, trust me on this I know it well, is wholly unsuited to the intended hs2 use... Mr Robbins own photo shows this up and that's at the quiet end not at the roundabout end to enter into Dobbins Lane.
The blog is a bit of a misrepresentation of the actuality of what hs2 intend to do.

This article might give those hereby interested a better idea.

Absolutely they need access (hs2 is too far gone now to keep blathering on about it) but I think that they need to compromise by entering from the west off the A413 link and minimise damage to the hedgerow.

An early start today before it became rather warm at 30°C. My veggie patch needed the strimmer over some of it just to find the soil. In the shade this afternoon, I had to clear a fallen tree that was blocking the lane to the fields. That was hard work, but it is now clear. A week ago I could not have done it all in a day, so feeling rather pleased tonight.

Summoned by my GP, I went along to be checked over after my stay in hospital. She was pleased that I have regained 11 kilos in weight, a further 5 wanted. Oxygen level now very good, which it wasn't and the thing that put me in hospital. Breathing still not perfect, so I will have an inhaler to use once a day. Carry on as you are doing, it is working well. All nice to know.

Off to see the ENT doctor this afternoon, who will attempt to clear the blockage in one ear. If successful, he will do further tests, and issue a prescription for hearing aids. According to some, this doctor is great, while others think him to be brutal. I wonder which one I will get?

I think half a garden was in my ears. Big clear out yesterday, and now I can't hear anything out of the worst of the two. Back again to doctor Friday, to do what I don't know.
