Yeah I went and got cash out this morning, just so I can go in the supermarket and pay in cash, when I had the debit card that took the cash out the machine on me.

    I'm just a stubborn ****er. <laugh>

I don't have any parking apps, and even though I know how to put my plastic cards in my phone wallet (my son showed me), I've not done it.

I wish these people could decide between the Holocaust being made up and constantly trying to equate this nonsense with the Holocaust.

    Yeah, she’s extreme.

There’s more examples of similar stuff from people who have been doing work for/or directly employed by the BBC, but I didn’t want to spam the place. I kinda needed to post that one though, to show it goes further than people not being fond of Israel.

Just found her comment after she was sacked by the BBC <doh>

@brb You nailed it, she’s just like Abe.

Ms Halawa accused the BBC of having "opted for trial with social media", and claimed it was "capitulating to pressure from external pro-Israel interest groups".

I have to admit, it's funny how these people can get away with so much but Jeremy Clarkson faced the sack after 7 people complained to Ofcom

and those same people that will defend the BBC are the same ones that crucify Clarkson. People have very short memories with this Corporation and the years of exploitation around Saville and at the very highest levels - nothing has changed to this day in my eyes, and it's just waiting for the next big scandal at the expense of the British taxpayer. The problem is the people that work within are paid extraordinary sums of money, and some more recently have used that money to groom others, and so it goes on, where we fall into the pits of hell with the people it employed in the past and the people it still employs today, it's like groundhog day every ****ing decade with them, and yet if I don't pay my licence and refuse the courts demands, I'm the one that goes to prison, it's all ****ed up...

anyway, after saying all that, it's goodnight <laugh>

Maybe Israel should just let Journalists into Gaza and then the BBC wouldn't have to rely on dodgy freelancers <whistle>

Think you've slightly missed the point - the chances of the BBC being able to employ any Arab that's not critical of Israel's actions in the Midde East since the 1960s and particularly in Gaza and the West Bank now is non-existent - doesn't mean that all support terrorism ... yes they should do proper background checks for outspoken incitement threats etc ... but as has become quite obvious - even on here - legitimate criticism of Israel and the IDF all too quickly gets labelled as 'anti-semitic' by those who support the Israeli regime in blinkers...

I think you’re missing the point, big time. It is absolutely fine to be critical of Israel’s actions. Saying Hitler was right, isn’t critical of Israel’s actions. It’s vile.

I’m showing you these examples and you’re still using words like, ‘Not fond of Israel’ - ‘Can’t be critical of Israel’

It’s racism mate. Call it for what it is <ok>

Nobody's excusing those kind of comments ... but you started off purporting some Freelancer as being representative of the BBC ... and when that was debunked you went looking for something else to try and substantiate that stance - finding an actual employee or employees does not prove it ... the BBC employs thousands of people and the fact they take disciplinary action against individuals that overstep the mark (current or historically), like this woman, actually suggests the opposite in terms of the BBC's stance ...

As Ponky said - if independent reporting was allowed in Gaza it would help immensely in terms of clarity and transparency - also reduce the need for freelancers - the fact that it's not, speaks volumes ...

Probably speaks greater volume that they can’t find someone in the area who isn’t a frothing Jew-hating lunatic.

You make it sound like I’m on a witch-hunt, I’m not.

What was debunked? This guy has reported for BBC Arabic about a dozen times, I think I read. Do the BBC not care who they give the microphone to? No background checks is reckless. How can the BBC still release statements talking about how they’re unbiased when they’re letting guys like this broadcast his version of events to the nation, which after reading his comments about Israel and Jews, definitely will be biased.

The BBC have a track record of cover-ups. We all know what their stance is.

I think you make a good point and I am absolutely not a fan of how anti-Israel comments are dealt with in the West, where - and I am more than happy to admit it - the pro-Israel lobby is both quick and relentless in shutting down any and all such comments with cries of 'ANTI-SEMITE!'. It is lazy, counter-productive and quite often simply factually incorrect.

I believe that in the secular West, it is possible to decouple anti-Zionism from anti-Semitism. My first assumption when debating anyone on the subject is certainly not that they are arguing because they are anti-Semitic, and so far on this and other websites I've encountered very few people who have debunked that assumption. Aber was obviously one and, dare I say it, Treble was another who toed the line far too close for my liking.

However, by the same token it is important for westerners to understand (they really, really don't) that the Muslim world continues to have a serious problem with classic anti-Semitism, such that you'll even find it in UNWRA-run schools across the Arabic-speaking world.

Anti-semitism in the Muslim world pre-existed Zionism by many generations, although it is clear to see how the latter has both supercharged and in some cases weaponised it. That doesn't justify it, but it does explain why the BBC will face a huge struggle to find any Arab journalist who is not somewhat if not fully anti-Semitic as well as anti-Zionist. In that world, the two are still impossibly intertwined.

However, I will also make something of a controversial observation that I have found to be true over years of interactions with Arab Muslims:

They simply do not relate to Hitler or the Holocaust like we Europeans do. The taboo just isn't the same. Other than north Africa and parts of Turkey, the horrors of that era didn't touch the Muslim world. Hitler was the bastard child of a millennium of distinctly European anti-Semitism. He was the by-product of continent-wide entrenched prejudice, often state and church sponsored and driven, and took the lives of millions thanks to a near-total indifference. None of these were Muslim problems, nor is it reasonable to expect a Muslim* to fully understand the impact of their words when they say stuff like 'Hitler was right'. Again, not excusing - just explaining.

    *Clarification: Non-European Muslim
