I did say I wanted mepham permanently but I think he shows signs of concern sometimes. I think O9 is underrated and would keep him around the squad, but no reason we can’t find a better CB who can pass the ball to a good level and have him as a backup
In fairness I said in September that I would be tentative to sign him if we went up as I am not totally convinced by him, but staying in the championship him alongside someone with a bit of pace should be enough to go up.
If we get to the PL we will need a higher quality one I agree but I also think Mayenda will get better and better and make the step up. Isidor potentially too. not sure it’s a “priority” and if we stay down. Definitely not
Some free agents at the end of the season of who im aware of (as it stands) that I think would be excellent additions to the club. My knowledge outside of England is pretty poor, but I know bundesliga2 and the Belgian/swiss leagues have plenty talent who tend to do well here, couldn’t name any like but plenty lads on here could though I still like poku at Peterborough but rumours Birmingham are going to hoy £30k a week at him he’s not worth that
Only a rumour like but I can see them hoying daft cash about and ending up in hot water down the line
Wrexham are paying Jay Rodriguez close to £30k per week apparently. And Birmingham signed Stansfield for £20m so wouldn’t be surprised if they’re willing / able to offer similar. Going to be really frustrating all summer seeing their transfers
It wouldn't even surprise me with it being Birmingham City after how much they spent last season to get promoted roughly between 35 - 40 million on players to my knowledge. However yes Poku has looked excellent this season with 20 goal contributions and his attacking style is very attractive to watch. I suspect a lot of clubs will be monitoring him as he'd be a perfect fit for any club with what he brings. Definitely deserves the step up though!
Always felt Meoham, Ballard and O9 would work brilliantly as a 3. Not the system we play of course, nor do we have the right squad make up for that, but they all have different attributes that would compliment each other IMHO
Bertola I'm a huge fan of, Esposito and him from Spezia would be great to see. Seems like Lemperle has a pre contract agreement at Hoffenheim which is a shame because I'm not sure he'll play loads there.
Burnleys 2 Centre Halves: Maxim Esteve - €12m - 22 years old - 6'4 - quick - progresses the ball - weaker in duels but reads the game really well CJ Egan-Riley - €0m (released by man city) - 22 years old - 6'1 - quick - can progress the ball - a unit in duels - reads the game amazingly. Next season for us: - O'Nien - Ballard - Seelt - Alese - Hjelde I think they've shown this season that you don't necessarily need experience at centre half, despite having it elsewhere. Would be hoping either Seelt kicks on or we go out and try to sign an optimistic target of a young CB that will move the needle for us (either towards promotion or survival). There are obviously players out there who fit the rather rudimentary criteria of: - Fast - Wins duels - Progressive on the ball - Reads the game well (preferably u23/with room to improve) Whereas I feel all our centre halves either tick 2 or 3 of those boxes in an attempt to compliment each other in a pair. Burnley have provided an ideal profile of defender in my opinion and hopefully we look to find and secure that perfect target.
I really hope we are in the prem so we are naturally going for higher quality because if we are still down here, i'm going to be jealous of their signings I imagine
Not just that, it's going to be frustrating as **** when we have lined up signings rumoured in the press and then all of a sudden Wrexham come in and they go there instead because of "the project" (money).
Depending on what league we are in will depend on targets, we have targets linked for each league. and budget, next season, whichever league we are in, it will be massive
Yeah there's a lot of stuff happening behind the scenes, obviously there is every year but this is the most we'll have been able to spend for a while and the most since the data analysis department was revolutionized and under Speakman
Will we spend more than usual this window do you think if we are still in the champ? If we are in the prem it's a given really for any owners who have common sense
I have high hopes for Seelt tall, reads the game, good passer, if he gets a good pre season could easily be him and mepham or him and Ballard as a partnership
