COMMON SENSE has prevailed at last because Tom Hicks and George Gillett have decided not to seek compensation from Liverpool Football Club and Fenway. Reason- No chance of winning.
they should be bankrupt from the lawyer fees let alone all the ruined sports clubs they left in their wake..... i wonder if the personal suits on purslow, ayre and the chelsea fan (broughan) have been dropped. still its nice to have it all over......
It's a relief even if we did know they had no chance of winning. I think we should all be happy that, that sorrid chapter of our clubs history is finally over
as much as i'd like to disagree and be the bigger guy i have to agree with jonsey... i try to have sympathy for everyone (even utd players who get injured as an example from today's news) but these two truely deserve to be bankrupted and left with nothing.
I have less sympathy with Tom than George. I don't think even George realised who he'd gotten into bed with in order to take control of Liverpool. Its always been Tom Hicks who had the big mouth, the rash promises and the abrasive attitude. Tom can screw himself, just like he screwed us and George Gillett
U could argue they have already done the damage, would we have Silva,Martinez,Alves playin for us now if we had got decent owners in 2007????????
Add Jovetic and possibly Malouda. Might still have Torres too. Ah well, it is all done and dusted but how how how how DUMB can you be when you let Hicks in, the man who almost crippled Corinthians, ****, he got them relegated and bankrupt!
From Wikipedia - fount of all knowledge (yeah, right!) Corinthians In 1999, Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst entered into a partnership with Sport Club Corinthians Paulista, a successful Brazilian football club. Club directors and Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst assured the fans that a new stadium was in development, but this never materialized. Corinthians had won the Brazilian championship in 1998, so they inherited a winning team. There was an initial capital investment to tie down existing players and to finance the signing of Dida and Luizão. The initial expenditure assisted in retaining the league title in December 1999 and the club also won the inaugural FIFA Club World Championship the following month. They began selling the club's star players and announced plans to change Corinthians' famous black-and-white kit. This led to a furious reaction from supporters. In 2003, after legal/financial troubles and partner infighting, Hicks retired from the company and the ownership group eventually left the partnership with Corinthians. There was no new stadium. We should have seen it coming, really. George Gillett should have seen it coming. And most of all, David Moores should have seen it coming...
We should have seen it coming, really. George Gillett should have seen it coming. And most of all, David Moores should have seen it coming... The ****ing gall of him to play dumb and say " we took it on Gillett's word". That kind of process needs to be done as thorough as possible. Irks me to this day as when it happened I was in college and a few of the Brazilians were massive Corinthians supporters. They told me early doors that we got snakes but I blew them off seeing as they wre winding me up. Nope!
Well, it took them 4 years to screw us up royally, which looks par for the course with Hicks, going on the timetable he followed at Corinthians. Now we're on the up, and we should only ever look back on that episode just to remind ourselves how close we came...
I still remember we went from seond in the league, Rafa provided with war chest to ......... Liverpool in serious debt, no money for transfers and bye bye Alonso what a summer that was!
Rafa had us improving year on year for 5 yrs, but NO net investment for over 2 and half yrs,a couple of expensive mistakes ( Keane,Aqua) , and his obsessive nature doing the like of Stevie n Carras head in, meant he got the chop. Personally I think he was tad unlucky to get the chop as 5 yrs in 6 we improved
I wanted him to have 1 more year as he deserved at least another chance to prove that year was a fluke, but with the trouble he was having with H&G there was no way he was staying, hence why we got a cheaper and easier "yes man" , albeit he still blew 10 million on Konch and Poulsen!!!!!
This ^^ Moores and Parry were responsible for a lot of the ills at Anfield over the years by letting us fall financially and competitively so far behind the competition. Then they sold out to those ****ing muppets honest to god
This just about sums up their 3 years at the helm in 15 seconds:
It was never going to happen (claiming damages)but glad to hear that they have given up pair of morons. There are a lot more names that i could give them pair of Royal T.... Like said we can close that chapter GLASS OF CHAMPAGNE PLEASE
