Not even Salford could stop the upstarts tonight in the bizarrely named Bristol Street Motors Cup (formerly the Freight Rover/Autglass/Checkatrade etc…) Cup. Ex bluebird loanee Conor McAlaney netted but in vain
Had to scroll ages back to find this thread. They are 2 up and on their way to The Championship. A terrible day gets even worse
It'll certainly be interesting to see how their accounts stack up. Problem is, thanks to the global media coverage, they have managed to bag quite a few big name sponsors that would be completely out of reach of most clubs in the lower divisions and probably even a few of the smaller Prem clubs. Add to that the revenue from the TV programme (assuming that is being utilised as a commercial revenue stream) and they could well be staying within the guidelines??
It would be nice if the championship teams burst their balloon next season but I have a horrible feeling they'll do quite well.
Last time I was there was twenty years ago, Fans United Day, when they played Doncaster. Fans from lots of clubs attended, and from memory the total attendance was just over 6,000. Wrexham till they die, viva reincarnation.
Wales online suggests Wrexham are eyeing up Callum Wilson, Danny Ings and Aaron Cresswell. Good players but at the wrong end of their careers, and injury prone. Signing former PL players of a certain age is no guarantee of success. Callum Chambers springs to mind. Robbie Fowler another one.
