Even Plymouth is winning; this season's relegation zone is going to be more exciting than usual.

What do we class as the start of the second half? 5 minutes? 10 minutes?

So win next week and we're safe
Draw and we need Luton or Preston to lose or Derby to lose by 3+ goals

Can't see it, but it isn't over yet

We haven’t won on last day of season in over 20 years. You hope something has to give

36 points from last 48 at home, I just can’t see us getting anything

They are effectively down because of the size of their negative goal difference

Nothing to lose I suppose. Selles can surely just take the brakes off and have a go of it

Be interesting if Preston/Luton go a couple down early if we play for a draw like today, or we actually try and win the game

It’s crazy that it’s still in our hands. I’ve never known a relegation battle like it

We’ll probably go 2-0 up, Bristol City saving themselves for the playoffs, West Brom on the beach, then we lose 3-2 anyway so it’s all irrelevant!

    So

A loss v portsmouth = we are down

    A draw v portsmouth =

Is enough to stay up if
    Any of these happen;

    Preston lose
    Luton lose
derby lose by 3 goals or more

A win v portsmouth = we stay up no matter what

    Derbys goal gd is -8
    Ours is -10

We could potentially finish equal points and equal gd as derby

Derby have more goals scored so they would win that tie breaker

Yeah, if we draw we might as well forget the Derby v Stoke game - we'd be relying on Luton or Preston losing.

I’ve been thinking a lot about this form table this morning.

12 points in 10 games for a side like ours isn’t actually that poor. Over the course of a season it’s over 50 points - which would’ve seen us safe and at the same ppg would have seen any of the PL promoted sides safe this season in their league too.

But when you look at Luton, Derby and Plymouth (and Stoke to an extent) you can see what’s gone wrong. Our biggest failing in the second half of the season hasn’t been a lack of points - it’s giving them away to our rivals. Even just drawing against Derby, Luton and Stoke and we’d probably stay up. You can look at their form and say we’ve been unlucky (and we have to an extent as they have play off form over the last 10 games) but we’ve helped with that. The wins away against Sheffield Utd and Sunderland mean less than the losses at home.

But coupled with that is the fact that Selles possibly had too much to do after he came in with what he inherited. The summer upheaval left him a really difficult task which was made even harder when we lost our two best Jan signings. Mistakes were made in the window for sure but even just one of Barry or Matazo being available probably keeps us safe.

It’s a perfect storm of bad luck, club mismanagement and other clubs being able to take advantage of our poor showings at home.

The Portsmouth game next week is interesting as despite that - our defence is in the top 10 over the last 10 games - whilst theirs is in the top 10 worst. Our attack is amongst the poorest but theirs is amongst the best. Form isn’t overly different either. It’s not over yet but the fat lady is doing her vocal warm up exercises.

Drew.... you're papering over the cracks. He has had 27 games to get it right to find a formula like all the other bottom feeders have done. He hasn't. His whole persona is one of drab, reflected in where we are.

I meant my post as criticism of his home form management.
