When you see anger, don’t poke the bear.

There are indeed some that are frankly frustrated but there are subtle ways of dealing with this rather than stirring the pot.

I used to get very worked up about it all, but far less so now. I was the proverbial "bear with a sore head" all weekend if we lost and Friday night games were a complete disaster!!

A few major life changing events, meeting someone late in life and then having a family gave me a completely perspective on the world.

Today I am about to head out into Prague with my Spurs jacket on. I've already got a few thumbs up, probably for the Kinsky connection.

Saying that I also got lots of sympathy from the airport staff when we left Luton yesterday...<laugh>

TBH the only loss that's ever made me legit pissed off was the CL final, after getting ****ed over by that ****wit ref in the first thirty seconds

Plenty of results are annoying, irritating even, but that's the only one I've ever been legit enraged by

I was angry until I saw the live VAR clip, at which point I knew the fix was in.
The **** doesn't have time to watch it back before he confirms the decision. Bent. As. ****.

It’s hard being a parent these days. Not only do your kids need to know about the birds and the bees, they need to to know about the bees and the bees, the birds and the birds, the bees that used to birds, the birds that used to be bees, the bees that identify as birds, the birds that identify as bees, the bees that are now birds but still have stingers and the birds that are now bees but still have peckers….o_O

They will have ZERO problem with it all. The world's not what it was...and you're getting old. Your parents were like this about sex outside marriage or gay rights or something...every generation has its thing. It was swearing on TV and men dying their hair orange when I was a kid.

Accept it. It's the natural order of things. It'll all be alright.

Teach them love and tolerance to all (except to Chelsea and Arsenal fans) and you can’t go wrong as a parent

Everyone has the right to live in a way that makes them happy. It does my head in that a group of people who by and large pose no threat to anyone are victimised and abused. Women face more threat from men that identify as men than any other combination.

They'll be miles ahead of you on this, in all likelihood.
It's just a political football to distract people from real issues.
Nobody gave a crap until recently, especially in this country.
Lily Savage was completely mainstream and pantomime dames go back centuries.

As a London-based metalhead I move in some very progressive spaces.
Gender-neutral toilets and the like are fairly common and nobody cares.
As the others have pointed out, if everybody's a consenting adult, then let them get on with it.
I don't claim to understand half of it, but it doesn't affect me anyway, so who cares?

I don’t disagree with a single word of anything each of you have said.
The point (missed) is how people have to be divided and categorised about their gender or sexuality (amongst other things). We have to put everybody into little boxes and label them - usually to highlight differences. Doing so is rarely positive. And people are not defined by their gender or sexuality - no more so than any other characteristic which might be the same or different to anyone else. By the time the categorisation has finished, we’re all alone in our own little box.
Children don’t tend to see differences - they get taught about them by adults. My children’s peers are from different racial, cultural and social backgrounds, but that wasn’t an issue for any of them when they were little. Ditto sexuality and gender differences. It’s only when they are exposed to the adult world - and in particular, the toxicity of social media, that these differences become an issue. Most of the narrative is that different is bad.
The point of the post was to ridicule how society treats what was once a simple issue by dividing people now into subgroups by their gender or sexuality. It shouldn’t be taken as being anti non- heterosexuals, which seems to be the way it’s been read.

That is the essence of "group identity politics" .

What I love most about it is that the maths of basic set
theory will always lead morons and PIPEs to create
fundamental dichotomies. At which moment they must
immediately ridiculed in public for the fools they are.

It's as often the other way round...possibly even more so.

My experiences tend to show that groups of people whose lifestyles leave them at the fringes of what is considered to be 'normal', are VERY particular in differentiating their lifestyle choices from others, who the man on the Clapham omnibus would consider to be the same/similar enough to be grouped together.

The further from 'the central norm' you get, the more that those who live and play there, see themselves as being unlike most others of a significantly similar nature and occupying smaller and more exclusive groupings, with increasingly unfamiliar and often esoteric names. If you don't care about belonging, being grouped with others and branded by them, in their terms, isn't for you.

My youngest now identifies as non-binary/pan sexual (I had to look it up) having burned through all the groupings, the names of which meant something to me.

It's all new terminology for the same old stuff. There's nothing new under the sun, it's just people's reactions to it that change...and the terminology.

God I can still remember vividly having tea with the family when that Bill Grundy/Sex Pistols interview went out, and my father practically imploding as he desperately tried to turn the TV off. <laugh> <laugh>

I suppose that if things don't go well, these bags can also be used to shield your eyes from what's happening on the pitch...<laugh>
