That region has been a flashpoint for decades between Indian and Pakistan, really horrible what happened there recently and it looks like it's all going to kick off.

I meant in the context of your previous comment and that we/I was talking specifically about Israel responding to active threats from civilian households on that specific occasion.

Do you really believe Hamas are going to handover governance, disband and slip away into the background never to be a problem again?

They should probably have a fight over it once and for all. Winner takes the whole of Kashmir.

"We are Millwall, super Millwall, we are Millwall from the Den. No one likes us no one likes us, we don't care, we are Millwall super Millwall..."

    It's the same psychology.

Back someone into a corner hoping they'll surrender, and they are more likely to lash out in response instead.

This could be from either side tbf <laugh>

Russia's Investigative Committee - the main federal investigating authority in the country - confirms that General Yaroslav Moskalik was killed in an explosion in Moscow.

Commenting on the assassination, Russian Investigations Committee spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko says: “A Volkswagen Golf exploded after an improvised explosive device stuffed with pellets went off.”

You're right, Vladimir Putin and his cabinet have the same mentality as Millwall fans.

A 72 year old man seasoned in international politics that has been playing the game since he was in his 30s has the same outlook on life as a football fan.

They've put it on the table that they will hand over governance and disarm if the PA take over Gaza as part of a ceasefire deal. That's interesting, because Hamas and Fatah have been at odds for years. Hamas have not wanted a two state solution, which perversely is why Netanyahu enabled them, and allowed funding of Hamas, at it served him also because it weakened the PA and meant a two state solution was never going to be on the table.

If the PA unite the West Bank and Gaza under their governance, then it gives a road map for peace, and for a Palestinian state. Do I think Hamas would disarm in this scenario ? What I think would happen is that they would become largely a political organisation and their armed wing would likely be amalgamated into a Palestinian army.

I don't know about the Orange Revolution, but I agree about the corruption. I read a long time ago and put it up on this forum somewhere, where Biden was interfering in Ukranian politics long before he ever became president, and certain funding depended on it. Might have been under Bush presidency.

We've always been poking the bear, but somehow us guys are the good guys. We're a bunch of ****s that have spent to much time interfering and mapping out our western ideology, the EU, NATO and yes America have always been at the forefront of that. Russia and China are obviously just as bad.

I'm not saying it;s all our fault, but anyone that thinks we are a peaceful bunch, needs to open their ****ing eyes.

"What is most spectacular is that Yaroslav Moskalik was actually on the third floor, smoking a cigarette by an open window. How he ended up on the Golfs roof remains a mystery."

    I'm not talking about Putin.

The key is the people on the streets. It always has been and always will be.

Real change at the top is impossible unless it has a groundswell of support from below.

Go and look at what the average Russian on the street thinks about the West. Blame propaganda all you want, in this day and age most of them have access to the internet and can quite easily read any opinion they want, yet they continue to choose the one spouted by Putin over all others.

And he's done that without the repression of the KGB, without the Gulags, without severe censorship, and in an age of mass worldwide communication.

That's bloody impressive and needs to be studied and understood rather than dismissed as a 'stupid' observation.

The orange revolution was a pro-western protest that spread across Ukraine after Russian interreference in Ukrainian elections.

The president of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, who was widely viewed as a Putin puppet ordered the state police to open fire on protestors, beat protestors and illegally detain them.

When the the revolution was proving successful, Yanukovych fled to and remains in Russia.

These are the sort of people that we are dealing with in world politics, all ****ing corrupt...

Von der Leyen previously used her phone to award contracts worth several hundred million euros while acting as defense minister of Germany, effectively bypassing public procurement processes. She subsequently deleted all messages from her phone when investigators probed her.

    https://www.theguardian.com/comment...-she-went-to-court-to-stop-me-why-the-secrecy

A complete culture change is needed. EU governments call the shots: they need to remind the EU executive that maintaining public trust means allowing people to understand how key decisions that affect their lives are made, even if such transparency makes governing – and texting – more complicated.

Don't disagree with you bro. I'm saying it hasn't always been just Russia interfering in elections though, and I am certainly not denying Russia do the same, we are as bad as one another.

Your original statement was ridiculous, I highlighted specifically what I thought was tbph, lazy.

NATO should have been disbanded and then conflating it with how right wing nuts in Israel feel marginalized and that means people in Russia feel in the same way marginalized and that makes them act out.

You can't conflate the two at all. Israel has an active opposition, it has a functioning parliament, it has a vibrant media landscape, it has free elections. Israel as a nation has a victim complex, which I fully understand. If a bunch of right wing leaning people in Israel have an opinion and feel the entire left world hates them, that's completely different to the mindset of the average bloke in Russia.

Russia doesn't have a real parliament, it doesn't have a vibrant media, it doesn't have a real opposition party, it doesn't have free elections. There is no way in at all to know what Russians think about anything, in Russia the voter is a none entity, they have no say in what's happening. So if they feel marginalized, victimized, scared, angry, nothing, happy, in love. It doesn't matter one bit.

If tomorrow Putin agreed a peace and shook hands with Zelenskyy, the Russian media would say "ok we won back to work everyone" and that would be it.

So I completely disagree with this "poking the bear" notion, because when you have a sole leader in charge that can change his opinions and his ideas in an instant, it's completely different from agitating an entire voting population.

The thing I hate about Trump at the moment is the stupid prick is pushing the UK closer to the EU, you really couldn't make this **** up, especially when he has a beef with the EU. You'd think he'd be bending over to do us favours, but nah 10% it is. Going to be interesting to see how Reeves gets on with her talks in the US.

He’d love it. He could find employment building detention centres for the scum that Russia and China throw their way.

He’d be as happy as a pig in ****.

With Farage and his lot leading in the polls, I wouldn't worry about the EU mate.

But if it continues as it is, one day you could have Reform UK and the Lib Dems being the top two.

    wouldnt that be something
