I've come to terms with us being in the Europa League..****...You can't win 'em all and this might ditch a few more glory hunters from the pack. Now that we're here I'd like to see us go far in it but not to the detriment of the PL. I agree with putting out "weakened" teams until the latter stages as I think it could be good European experience for the younger players. I know most of us don't want to be in this competition but we're here now so I'd like to see us do well in it. Please no WUMS
I think its a case of put out a weakened side, so we can concentrate on the league, and if we find ourselves in the semi finals, then we may aswell put out a strong team and try and win it, a little like the attitude we have towards the Carling Cup. Our 2nd string is still pretty decent, and some of those sides in that Europa League aren't that great, so we could well find ourselves in the latter stages, even if we rested our best players for league games. Do you know how the draw works for the Europa League? are the teams that have been demoted from the CL seeded, or could we draw the likes of City and Valencia early on
I would like Utd to win this or indeed any competition they enter. However I would like some of the younger players to be given a run out, after all, the more senior players have been useless.
Now we're out of the Carling Cup, I'd say we should just use the EL as a substitute. In other words, play the kids and squad players as long as we can, tho' obviously making sure not to put them up against a team where they will be completely out of their depth. Tho' what will actually happen is probably likely to depend on the situation when the EL restarts in Feb. If we have fallen off the pace in the PL and gone out of the FA Cup, I reckon we'll probably take the EL more seriously as it will be our only real chance of silverware. If we are still in the FA Cup, or within five points of the top of the PL, I reckon we'll ignore the EL in pursuit of the more important trophies.
if our experience is anything to go buy,it would be good for your younger players, our's have benefitted from playing in it
well done, almost kept it on topic for like 3 posts. I wonder if Evra will play in it? Given his sentiments, his blushing will gowell with the united red with all his embarrassment playing in it. The early rounds are shocking, but it does get better from qtrs onwards I don't think it is an exbarrasment to any club, UEFA throw big clubs that go out early a bone by allowing them into europa
i don't know why Brish teams have a downer on the Europa league, the other teams seem to love it,i think we're to arrogant, evra certainly is
Here's some info about the draw seedings http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2011/Dec/Europa-League-explained.aspx and Fergies latest comments. http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-F...-alex-ferguson-aims-to-win-europa-league.aspx
He's not being arrogant just honest. Utd failed to qualify for the next stage of the CL which they should be achieving especially in the group that they had. Evra wants to play with Utd in the top tier of European football. Not arrogance just expressing his aspiration. I find it strange that the Utd players should be loving the fact they are now in the Europa rather than the CL.
There is a chance you play City in the second round of the knock out stage. But United vs City final is what I am looking for.
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...United-Champions-League-exit-an-accident.html Shame most Arsenal fans don't follow the advice of their manager!!
Glad Ferguson has his head screwed on. Some of you lot are laughable. The Europa League is a competition I want the lads to win!
We were clearly not good enough for the Champions LEague so for this season our standard is Europa. I for one would enjoy some more silverware this season, and the way things are going Europa could be our most likely success.
He said he's embarrassed to be in the Europa League. Winning it would mean nothing considering we're only in it because we got knocked out of the Champions League.
Well he shouldn't be. We were embarrassed in the champions league, and now have another shot at a european trophy Lots of knee-jerk reactions and childish whining going on. I say game on.
