People should be a little less clouded by rivalries when forming their opinions. RVP has been at Arsenal for years but this is the first full year he has EVER had at arsenal without picking up a serious injury. Putting that into consideration, consider he has now scored 32 times in 31 league appearances in 2011. (40 in total) also because I used bold text that surely makes my opinion more valid.
"this is the first full year he has EVER had at arsenal without picking up a serious injury" - SO FAR. That is always going to be the major factor that goes against RvP when he is compared with other strikers.
Yup as it should be. I believe in terms of ability RVP is the best striker in the EPL but if he's never fit he's no more than a 'luxury player'. When he's available he's amazing but he cannot be relied upon purely because of his injury problems. (this is a problem at Arsenal seeing as Chamakh aka the 'Moroccan Heskey' is our back up)
Adding to his fantastic goal and assist records this year, RVP is also an intelligent player versatile enough to play anywhere across the front four- as RW,LW,SS,CF. The most painful thing about RVP is that his injury record hasnt allowed us to see his full potential as a player, hence the reason for all the arguements. Like someone said earlier though: "A fully fit RVP will do me just fine"
Yeh if he was english then it would be unbelievable how much praise he would get on a daily basis. Right now yes he is the best striker in the prem without a doubt, his record speaks for itself and now that he appears to be injury free we can now properly judge him, aguero is brilliant but rvp is just edging him at the moment. If Drogba was to play regularly then he would be up there as well and then obviously you have hernandez who is probably the best natural finisher/goalscorer. I think that the best player overall in the perm at the moment is either silva or rvp but it is very hard to judge, what you can say is that silva has nasri aguero, balotelli and dzeko and yay a tour around him to give him the ball whereas rvp is basically carrying arsenal at the moment.
Someone ridiculous like Rooney or Bale will get it. RVP does deserve it after the year he's having, Silva has been world class aswell.
Ooooh not sure I'd say Silva is more stylish, the way he cuts the ball and leaves defenders on the floor is beauty in motion. Silva is very graceful but so is RVP.
RVP is clearly the best Striker in the League - I think only Arsenal fans appreciated quite how good he is until recently when he has stayed fit for long enough for everyone else to take notice. Technicaly he is miles better than Rooney, Hernandez, Drogba, Adebayor, Dzeko, Balotelli Physicaly he is better than Torres, Aguero, Suarez His finishing is absolutely fantastic. He can take free-kicks, long range efforts, powerful drives, calm placement or chips, one-on-ones and headers. His attitude is very professional, with alot of affection for his club, the fans, team and manager. He shows fantastic leadership to the team and leads by example as well as through good communication and team building (e.g. giving his man of the match bottle of champers to the team, his celebrations to the bench etc...) He is a very skillfull player who can take on players, retain the ball, lovely tricks and flicks and plays a very intelligent and attractive style of football. Overall he is clearly the better player than any of the other strikers in the league - he offers everything you could want in a forward. He is a very good all round football player. In my opinion only Messi and Ronaldo are better and RVP is knocking on Ronaldos door.
Must be time for a niggling achillies or a minor hamstring tear. Possibly get caught by trailing leg of a De Jong or a Toure, fracturing a small fragile bone in the foot... Season Fin!
You don't know if he will be injured or not. We all know how pathetic and desperate Scousers are that there only chance of finishing above us is literally if we lose our best player for the rest of the season (clearly losing Cesc, Nasri, Jack and Sagna was not enough for you). However what is not debatable is Suarez is a racist **** and on top of the 2 match ban he will get for flipping the bird, he will hopefully (if the FA have any sense) will end up getting a 6 month ban for being a racist neanderthal prick, that should be enough so see Liverpool back where they belong - in a relegation battle.
Do my eyes deceive me? Another Scouser pinning all their hopes on a 5th place finish this season on a potential Van Persie injury? No, couldn't be. Pathetic club
Do my eyes deceive me? Another Gooner pinning all their hopes on a 5th place finish this season on potential Van Persie fitness? No, couldn't be. Pathetic club
