January is a time where watford traditionally sell players and when loanees return to there orriginal club leaving us with a poor second half to the season. With Bassini being so secretive does anyone know whether Dyche is going to have money to spend in Jan of be forced to sell players???

He may have targets in mind but as we know from Taylor, Conway and Wiggins, (doesn't that sound like a firm of solicitors?) it's one thing having targets but getting them is a different matter.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Marlon King the last first team player we sold in January?

NNW, not sure, but this is the first January with Bassini (supposedly) at the helm.

    I can't imagine who we'd sell.

Maybe Loach? Though I'm not sure that Spurs would put in a decent bid.....

Sordell won't go......I just don't see it happening and he isn't desperate to move as he has said.

I half expect a player or two to go, but my point is that selling in January is not a regular occurance. Selling Young for £8m plus add-ons that we were pretty confident about was a no-brainer, and even Homer and Cashton realised the financial situation when we started shifting players the following year. But I'm convinced that we didn't sell in January under BR (certainly not anyone who was in favour anyway), and I'm pretty sure that Malky never sold in January either.

    We could sell Lawrence Bassini.

    Adrian Mariappa to Cardiff City.

    To buy..... <laugh>

Ak, we'd have to pay someone to take Bassini.

We will lose Kightly and perhaps Nosworthy. (isn't Beattie on loan as well, from Wolves?) so that's 2 or 3 definites that will go. I am sure we will struggle to hold on to Sordell, Mariappa and possibly Loach either in January (though as has been pointed out, that would be unusual) or certainly by the summer. I wouldn't put it past Bassini to sell them in January though, which means we'd either have to have some pretty stunning loanees coming in...or we'd have to buy. Either way, It's going to be a scary month imho.

Nosworthy wanted to join us on a permanent so it could be the case that we sign him in January?

I cannot see Marvin going just yet. Sky Andrew wants to slowly raise his profile and wait for the big move whilst Marv gets experience of playing first team football.

Here's a left-field one. What if Sunderland were to express an interest in Mariappa?

Other than the loanees back to the club, the only one I think may go is Mariappa to Swansea, and even then it has to be a pretty good bid. There's a slight chance a teampushing for promotion might come in for Sordell (Southampton, maybe), but again, will have to be a very good bid.

As for in, maybe we will try to get Nosworthy in permanently, but where does that leave Taylor? If Mariappa goes, I'm not sure how well they would play together. Also depends on if Sunderland is willing to do a deal, and what sort of pay NN is looking for.

I'd suggest we'd also look for a replacement for Kightly, and another for Beattie - but then if our own loanees come back on fire, maybe they will be used more....

I would not complain there, that way we have Tiny, Nyron, Mapps and Mirfin. Mapps and Nyron have been very solid and our defense is the best its been in a long time!!

With the defence performing so well at the moment, would you bring Taylor back in when he's fit?

H, Beattie is on loan, but I thought it was from Swansea. Anyone know what the situation is with Garner? He seems to have disappeared.
