First of all can I say sorry if this post is OTT, sentimental gush or out of order, I promise I don't mean it to be. I have been really affected this week by Billy's sad news, Idon't know the man and never met his Janie but because Billy is so open about his life and love I feel like I do know them both, mayb that's what did it. Billy is a Sunderland fan who fell in love with a Newcastle girl so maybe that's why we all feel his pain, he crossed the great divide. Anyway, on Sunday I will be at the SoL to welcome MON and see my and Billy's team play but, just before kick off I intend to take a quiet moment and think of Billy and Janie, just say to myself god bless and pay my own little tribute. If anyone wants to join me and take their own private moment it would be good, maybe it might just help him to know we care. You don't need to be at the SoL on Sunday, it would work just as well before the Newcastle game on Saturday, in a pub, at home listening to a radio or on a dodgy internet stream. Again I'm sorry if this post is inappropriate, sometime hard to know what to do or say for the best.
Certainly not OTT or inappropriate, I will spare a thought for them both, I will also be grateful for the wife I have
Morning Syd, I was shocked like everyone else yesterday to hear about Janie, I thought about Billy all day. He never made a secret of his love for her, and I can only imagine how he is feeling, he will be in all our thoughts for some time I'm sure.
Lovely sentiment Syd. I too don't know Billy or janie. It broke my heart to read his post yesterday. It did go some way being fixed tho when I read the messages of support from football fans from all walks of life. I will definitely take a moment to think of them both and their families.
That is a lovely and most gracious sentiment. I will certainly dedicate a minute of silence before the match. Billy is a top bloke and while I do not even know him, I can see what you mean.
Don't know the lad or Janie but, genuinely feel for the bloke just hope he gets his head sorted asap and tries to just remember the good times and not dwell too much on the bad. Not there for this one as work has kicked in again but, will spare a thought for him and his family.
Genuine article from the heart there Syd, I will not be at the match but will certainly take a few minuets out as kick off approaches and say a prayer for Janie and Billy. Danny
I'll have my own minutes silence tomorrow at Norwich, and although I'd normally like to see you lose, 3 points on Sunday for Billy please! R.I.P Janie.
Morning Syd. Not at all OTT we all feel Billy's pain. Before our game I will take a minute to think of Janie and Billy and of course their family.
I'll be hoping for a Sunderland win this weekend too. It seems irrelevant in the grander scheme of things but hopefully a good result will keep him in the right frame of mind. Fingers crossed Billy lad
i know football takes up a large part of our lives, but news like this puts all the rivalry into perspective. some may argue, but shankly got it wrong... all the best billy and family in this side time
Well said Syd. I will be thinking of him and his lady at 3.00, and as others have already said, I hope that you lot pick up all 3 points this weekend.
Well said Syd, many I am sure will echo your thoughts and actions as we see too often bad things happening to good people.
Top notch Syd. I think anyone who has ever spoken to Billy on these forums will have a little thought for him and Janie before kickoff, and as Leazes said, 3 points for you would be perfect!
