A bit late with this but for my part I enjoyed the day on Friday. Shame we didn’t meet up RTB, I did wonder if it would happen when you said that you were driving given the traffic. Enjoyed a bit of banter with some lads before the game and the atmosphere amongst our fans, as always. The sending off spoilt what could have been a great game, I was surprised by the strength of the team we started with. Mayenda is a beast and wow, what a goal, that alone was worth being there. I never boo our own players but regrettably Watson brought me close with a total lack of commitment and effort. Contrary to what some have said on here, RTB is correct in saying that Watson was the first player to come over to applaud the fans at the end but he then walked to the tunnel when other players came over. Oh yes, we lost but I still left with a smile having enjoyed another day of supporting our club, roll on the playoffs!
If he progressing as fast as he did last summer this summer we have one hell of a player on our hands like, can’t believe how little I rated him as recently as November too
I suppose at his age he is only starting to figure out what he can do, scaring the **** out of seasoned CHs already, this lad probably needs a new contract
Yeah it's hard to judge these 18/19 year olds, Dan Neil had made about 5 appearances in the pizza trophy by that age and look at him now. Up to November he has admittedly only shown glimpses of what he was capable of in the games against Portsmouth and Shef Wed especially, suppose it highlights how we have to take the positives sometimes and trust the club to identify if they can become more consistent at those flashes.
100% think he signed a 5 year deal but I wouldn’t be against giving him a better wage and another year already
Same reason we shouldn’t be writing aleksic off poor lads barely had a kick and when he has he’s been in every position but his actual one
Personally I've seen some good fundamentals from him, and has some great physical attributes with how quickly he accelerates and challenges with 30 year old championship veterans. Bit like Mayendas first season of basically no game time I like to think Aleksic will come good, but then I'm biased because I wanted us to sign him before we were even linked. Was just 18 when he signed in August so he's got time on his side.
Yeah I’ve liked the little I’ve seen of him, poor at Norwich but who wasn’t, looking forward to seeing how he kicks on
I wouldn't dream of Hjelde there, in the playoffs, but would rather have him in tomorrow rather than see Watson in a red&white shirt. In fifty years I can't remember seeing anything as poor as that, especially after his heart rending message to the fans. You're right, he won't get any patience and doesn't deserve any. In my opinion there are no excuses whether it's his age, inexperience or form ... ... he's a professional player who's grown up at the club alongside teammates like Neil, Rigg, Patterson etc, not just some naive kid. His presence at the SOL, tomorrow, would be an unnecessary distraction at the worst possible time. Neil, as captain, should be speaking to the manager and making his feelings clear. RLB, as a foreign newcomer, can possibly be excused but Dan Neil must surely know the feeling in the stands. I'm setting off tomorrow to support players I hope have the club's best interests at heart ... ... I'll be seriously disappointed if Watson starts, he let everyone down at Bristol just as I expected.
Agree, can’t claim to be a Sunderland fan then not try a leg for those who pay hard earned money to watch you live their dreams, think he’ll stay in the squads but I don’t want him on the pitch ever again whether that come across petty frankly I don’t care, give your all or **** off
I don't care what happens when he leaves and wished him well before Bristol. But, hang on, tomorrow is costing thousands of people money ... ... if he plays the whole day will be about Tommy bloody Watson however he plays. At least Chopra pretended to care.
I’m sure everyone at the clubs aware of the feeling around him, I think he’ll be named in squads but very surprised if he comes on, interested to see how he acts in the lap of honour after QPR
Now that's a conundrum I wouldn't want to have to solve tbh. I'm sure the club have already had that cross their minds and they're in an invidious position. It's pointless, in my opinion, having Watson at the club let alone in the team. Just let him go so we can all get on with things.
