Exactly how I felt about Watson, I loved him and thought we had a lot to look forward to after seeing him in the U21 last year, but as the news came out about his behavior, I said he should be no where near the team however talented. As for AA I think as was badly treated by RLB despite a run of solid performances out wide that had him in the 6 to 8/10 bracket . He even got Roberts to score in one game before being shown the door.
Can't see a way back for Watson after yesterday. I can well imagine the team being furious with him, let alone the supporters. He's let himself down, his team mates and the club and fans down. Such a shame but he's brought it on himself
I really dont expect Watson to get any game time at all next season, but how good would it be if we get promoted and he starts for Brighton next season and we absolutely batter them. I do however think he'll be facing us in the Championship next season if we dont, because he'll be loaned out to someone like Norwich or WBA.
aye, there are some who dive in to have a pop at a player after a bad game but lads who usually defend the team steadfastly are openly calling watson...there simply is no excuse for a performance like that.
Its beginning to look like letting Adil go out on loan was a big mistake. Just seen he had another assist yesterday.
Honestly and it’s been said, he really couldn’t care less yday. if I was Brighton I would be worried as if that is his attitude don’t want that in my club
the only one not applauding clear as day he couldn’t give a ****, cheers for the money Tommy off you pop
As it was getting late and I’d had a couple of beers I turned off after Hume was sent off so I didn’t see Watsons performance. I’m guessing though that he was doing his damnedest to not get injured prior to his move down south. In doing so by the sounds of it he effectively made us a nine man team. It’s a shame really as I’d think being a Sunderland lad he would have run through brick walls to get us promoted. Clearly not though.
Patto had a good game by all accounts. Did someone draw a Cheese burger on the ball with extra fries, and a side order of Chicken wings??
It was the lack of effect chasing a simple ball, closing his man down, side stepping tackles and his distribution wasn’t there. Let him rot in the U21s. can only imagine the boos on him if he plays Monday
A couple of thoughts from me, sober. I thought the defensive shape after going to 10 men was great. Every time we lost the ball it was straight back into shape. It was excellently organised by Neil and Mepham too. I have to say I also thought Rigg was excellent out of possession, really stood up to the holding role once Neil went to centre half. On that, Neil is no CB, but he put his body in the way of all sorts yesterday, fair play. Just hope we dont have to see it again because without him in midfield the team has no tempo or control. I thought at 10 men we showed how to stop any opposition scoring. Until we made some sloppy inidividual mistakes that is. I thought Bristol City were quite a tidy side tbh. Knight was very good, although once we were down to 10 men he could effectively play as a free man. They have players who can hurt teams for sure. Earthy looked a threat and Bird made some good runs into the box. Didnt realise they had such strength to bring on the Twine and their righg winger, who looked dangerous. One last thing on Mepham. He seemed to get wound up yesterday by the ref. He really went in to a couple of tackles with some rigour. I liked it, other players seemed to react well to it. On the ref, he seemed to completely ignore Neil, as our captain, when he was making our case. But any of 6 or 7 of theirs he listened to. I rarely moan about refs, because they have the hardest job in the game, but yesterday I thought he was looking to help Bristol City at times. Or at least they got more leeway than we did. Anyway, onwards we go.
Mate we could beat Coventry 5-0 in the final and the doom mongers would have us relegated on the final whistle.
You and I are in very similar camps on almost everything. This appears to be no exception! both all “yep let him play if he grafts for us” but yesterday showed exactly the type of player he is! If he succeeds and Brighton, good for us. But I personally hope the 10m is all up front and not in clauses, and that he ends up not getting a game. The way he was yesterday and last week, I likened him to Rodwell. About as much use and as much heart
