I honestly believe he's worth about £15 m as he can't be replaced and is absolutely tearing the championship up..
I (like everyone else) hope Stewart stays with us. However, many posts on here are slightly naive concentrating on our valuation of Cam and whether Papa Allam would be tempted to sell etc, but the real question is, if a mid table prem team told Cam's agent that they wanted to sign him, and pay him £40k p/w for the next three years, would he want to go? The answer is, unfortunately, probably yes. If he decides he wants to go, it will be very difficult to hang on to him and the club would probably sell as long as the other club offered an acceptable sum (prob around £4m).
let me say this. You will not talk with more level headed players than Stewart and Chester or there dads. They are both still kids and learning the game. 40k a week is down the line and that is not there focus at the moment. What happens next summer is another thing BUT FOR NOW, January and this SEASON they aint going nowhere. Unless of course Papa Allam FORCES them out the door. And that is another story.
Perhaps Cam is an honourable lad, (and lets be honest these young kids we brought in from Man Utd have shown so far that they play for the shirt and pride), given that he has spent a large part of this year out injured, and has been nurtured back to health by the club, perhaps he feels he owes us something, perhaps he is happy here playing with a number of close friends and team mates with whom his career has flourished, and perhaps he like a number of other of these youngsters wants to get to the Premiership with US. They seem like they not only enjoy playing the beautiful game, but they seem to enjoy playing for the stripes, good on ya lads. Perhaps I`m a bit naive, who knows, just the impression I get is that Cam and the rest of the lads are here for the long haul. I do hope I`m right because this has the makings of a fantastic team.
You are more correct than you think. They all know what they can achieve as one group. Plus by leaving for elsewhere would make them squad players and bench warmers. When everything is perfect why change it.? Plus, there are other kids over at Man Utd who have also taken note of whats going on here. Stewart is very humble and not at all like many money grabbing gits.
these man utd lads are absolutely spot on in terms of their attitude and focus. they go to the cinema, watch box set dvd's, play computer games, go for sunday dinner at parents houses. other than that they do what man utd youngsters are moulded to do, love training and playing football matches. as tickler mentions these lads house share and are really really tight. they have a young manager who has played top flight, earned the big money, got 23 england caps and came back to his home town because he loves the club, in terms of a role model they won't find much better. there's always a carrot to dangle but stewart, dudgeon, chester and evans are as decent as they come. COYH
I think you make a good point, it's a pity a certain J. Bullard didn't appreciate all the time he was out injuried, and being paid his wages, that he owed the club something for standing buy him. There again this is Bullard so I should know better.
Stewart and Chester will stay the season, just as they will be promoted automatically with the club. They will remain for our PL season and will consider moves in the summer - someone will make offers neither of us could refuse. Simples
I think you all need to have a rethink, Arsenal took a L1 player from Southampton for £12M rising to £14M in Oxlade Camberlane. What did Walcott go for ?? It's all about 'potential' and Stewart has bags of this and on this, his genuine value must be similar. How much would you pay for the next Ronaldo? If we seriously have aspirations of getting to and staying in the EPL then we need young gifted players! We've all seen what past it has beens gets you. Keep this group together Mr Allam. UTT
i think the players themselves know there's a good chance of promotion this year if they stick together. if we get promoted this season, they'll be playing every week in the prem with city... if we dont get promoted, we'll probably lose chester & stewart to newly promoted sides or mid table sides.
This is a good point. Wickham at Ipswich lat year wasn't making their first team but was sold for £9m at the end of the season based on him being young, similary with Oxlade-Chamberlain, he wasn't as big for Saints as Lambert or Lallana and yet he went for a massive sum. Surely Cam being young and actually playing well consistently at the same time as opposed to just being young makes him worth more than them?
No-one hear knows Cameron personally, none of us can really say whether he wants to go or not. None of us even know really if any club is interested. This is all speculation, i agree Cameron has being brilliant but i think we are all being daft if we think United didn't put any sort of buy back clause into his contract like they do with every single player they sell. Even Giuseppi Rossi has one.
I've wondered before if they put a clause in there, it didn't make sense that they let us have him so cheap, so easily when he was playing so well.
You would think they woukd have some sort of clause, if they dont have a buy back clause i bet they have a big sell on clause to even if hegoes for 4m bewould be lucky to see 2m of it! I wounder who we will get next from United? im sure our ties are as strong as ever with Jack Barmby playing for them even though NB once picked Liverpool over United! How many Sons have played for there Dad??
