I think there's a complete over reaction to yesterday's performance.

I thought we did okay yesterday. Swansea where the better team, but we battled well.

There's alot on line calling them spinless and some people saying we should sack Selles.

I think he's actually done okay with what he has. This is the table since Selles took over.

I have to agree, it's like a mechanic working without spanners, afraid I look at the current crop of players and bar the odd few, there is very little quality in there, and as for the attacking third we're pretty shocking and blunt.

But aren't all the teams around us in a similar or worse situation?

The clue is in the second line...'Swansea were the better side..........' Why were Swansea the better side? That's the question that needs to be answered.

I'll agree that calls to get rid of Selles with three games to go is a bit silly. He's done okay with what he's got at his disposal...When you are relying on Pedro and Crooks, both of whom would struggle to get into some mid table L1 sides, you know things are up $hit creek.

To be honest, that table is worse than I expected. I guess our last few games have dragged us down a bit.

I think Selles obviously has something about him and has clearly improved us significantly. But even then, with the money spent on our squad we should be better than we've been playing. We shouldn't be unable to score goals when teams with half our budget can bang them in all over. Something is very deficient about this team which needs serious examination once the season is done.

When you look at where the money is spent
It makes a bit more sense though

    Omur is in turkey
Giles is sitting on boros bench
    Mehlem is in germany
Millar, belloumi and matazo are out

Barry(not sure if that counts as money)

Always thought kamara wasnt brought in to be number 1
But id expect better than 8 g+a
But i suppose in this team maybe its good

Joseph, we probably overpaid in january for what we needed at the time
Hes long term clearly, same with burstow

Hughes is good and even scored

The big problem with this current team to me

Is it seems a very mismatched disjointed set of players
Who all have a very similar set of skills

We have absolutely not one single player with a bit of pace who can run at defenders and stretch the play

Palmer, lincoln, crooks, joseph all do the exact same thing pretty much
Lots of cut backs, its just not their role, no real killer instinct

Which must be infuriating from a management pov
As we have no consistent way to try and score goals

And as a result, we are the 2nd lowest scorers in the league

Now I don’t play golf but if you gave Rory McIlroy a bag of clubs with 4 key clubs missing I’m pretty certain he’d struggle against similar opponents. We lost 4 players to injury early on in the season, Ruben has done ok with what is at his disposal and bear in mind the ****show he inherited from Walter. We’ll survive this season, it’ll be close, but try being a one-legged man in an arse kicking competition.

We try and play close piession when in the wrong place for example our bottom corner when defending , also we go forward then try it again going backwards . It seems possession is the total ‘plan’ but stifling adventure . Swansea closed us down and we were slow to every loose ball , plus when we gave the ball up too many players were stood watching as they playe past us . We sort of did it at Watford but didn’t score .

As said in the other thread, it all depends on what period you want to take your stats from.
Run it again based on the last 6 (which is far more relevant to where we find ourselves atm).
If you look at all the teams from 50 points downwards, we are bottom of the table over the past 6. Even Plymouth have taken more points.
Our performances have been dire. We are toothless. Take out the last gasp wonder goal and it looks even worse.
He initially sorted out the mess he inherited, just like most managers do (re-organised us back to basics). But we've gone backwards alarmingly, and at the crucial time.
I'm not calling for his head, but I am questionning him and also playing devils advocate with other's comments about the improvement since he joined.
The squad is lacking, but we have enough to pose a threat going forward and have options from the bench (that should be options from the bench, not starting). He has to get it right now, starting Monday.

    Selles joined early December
He’s made a clusterfuck of the January window
    Absolutely ****ing bizarre signings
You identify the problem and buy what you need to rectify it
Why wait weeks to play Egan? If you’ve identified you need a stronger centre back
    Weird
    Amrabat bizarre signing
    Lincoln bizarre signing
Joseph nowhere near good enough for what we needed
    He’s been here five months
He’s a likeable bloke but the wheels have come off and he looks clueless to fix it

Even with our bad recent results we still aren't in the bottom 3
When Selles took over we were 24th so there must have been some improvement

In terms of recruitment just how much say and input does the Head Coach have ?
    I genuinely don't know

Hindsight being the wonderful thing that it is, would we have been better to appoint Alex Neill? Done a great job at Millwall - but that doesn't guarantee he'd have done the same with the hand he would have had here. IF we go down, I reckon Acun will be wondering if he made the right choice, though.

The majority of our problems are down to piss poor recruitment, added to the season ending injuries.
January window was important and we even ****ed most of that up.
We have bought players then let them go, it really has been ridiculous and there is only one person to blame, our mental owner.

As I said in a different thread, statistically Selles has improved our results more than Neil has improved Millwall's. I know it's an unpopular fact but it's still true.

He's of course ultimately responsible, but I lay it more at the feet of those he delegated to. And awful luck tbf
