Calls for the managers head are wild. Is he perfect? Absolutely not. He’s stubborn with subs for sure and that’s a gripe of mine, I think our game management has been poor at times but it’s his first season in England and we gave top 3 a real push for the most part. He’s still only been a head coach for 3 seasons or so, he’s learning and he’s inherited a very young squad.
Agree in that it annoys me at times when it seems clear to us we need to change something - however he might just not rate some of the second string players he has inherited. No improvement next season if we bring in a few players and it starts to become more of a problem for me.
I was very impressed by us until the sending off. After that it was just like watching us in our previous recent games, backs to the wall stuff. The playoffs will be completely different as we’ll have something to play for. Apart from that I agree with everybody else on everything.
The play-offs are a lottery. Main season form doesn’t count for much tbh. If Sheff Utd miss out, which looks likely, they will be on a downer, whereas, the final 2 play-off places will probably go to the last day, so they have momentum. You are also in a difficult spot, nothing to play for, for 3-4 games before the play-offs is not ideal.
It has been quite nice as we have taken the last 3 games to rest key players - both you and coventry will be fighting until the very end to make playoffs which should have you in peak competitive spirit but tired. As long as we can switch back on that competitive streak then I think we would be favourites personally, (having a look in every teams social media spaces we all think ourselves are). I do however think every time a big game has come around we have looked totally up for it and been the better team against burnley and shef utd in both legs.
Was a top level performance from Mayenda today. Exactly how you want your striker to play in a 11v10 situation. Think it's cemented now that he's the best striker at the club.
I love how quickly the perception changes on here - its like all the doubters come out after a poor game and then all the believers when he plays well. Think the majority back him mind.
I have to say i'm a believer in him, thought he was the best striker at the club last season as well and was unfortunate to get put out on loan.
The only team I worry about is Coventry tbh because they’re an absolute bogey team for us. When we played Bristol City at our place they parked the bus and scored from a poxy corner iirc. Today’s game means nout when you’re playing with 10 men for 80 minutes. As mentioned above anything can happen in the play offs but I’d put my mortgage on us beating Bristol C. Going through a bit of a purple patch but still a fairly average team full of average players at the end of the day. Other than Knight not a single player in that team gets in ours.
Yeah I hope so. 8 goals in the Championship at 19 and a Spain u21 call up will definitely have clubs interested in him.
