Di Canio's Panenka penalty against Lehman was a classic, after Lehmann had indulged in all that gamesmanship. Di Canio admitted afterwards he knew "One of us is going to look stupid", and he was right. Loved it.

When my son was about 9 I took him to a Charlton event at Blackheath. Di Canio stayed behind long after anyone else chatting to fans and kids and signing autographs.

In a Premier League side he was head and shoulders above the others.

I remember he coming on as a sub at Leicester and Portsmouth and changing the games, he'd be the first name on my all time first eleven for Charlton.

I also remember him being subbed off for Carlton Cole in a game against Southampton, the one where Parker scored two screamers. That also changed the game and we lost 3-2. Curbs took responsibility for probably making a mistake.

Remarkable, how much the pundits are stroking off on SSN about Manyoo getting through to the Europa League semi-Final.
Misty eyed talk about 1999, the days of Fergie etc. <doh>

Really? I hope they get Spurs in the Final. Come on Ange! :emoticon-0165-muscl

Angela is a dead man walking, he could win the cup and give the fans the middle finger.
He'll not start next season in North London.

Not really, all the whilst the scull caps remained in the cup.
The Premier League European qualification has been a write off since Christmas.
    I absolutely despise totteringham, 1961<laugh>

On this day in 1989, we beat Manchester United 1-0 at Selhurst Park in front of 12,000 spectators. The only goal came courtesy of a Mark Reid penalty in the 7th minute.

Just to be pedantic, it was at Selhurst Park. I went to this game with a manu-supporting mate.

Doh! My bad. I've been off the grog for fifteen years - maybe I need the odd tipple to lubricate the old grey matter...

I was also there. Eleven years old and wearing my lucky Full Members Cup Final hat (not that it was lucky for that particular final).

Eni Aluko reckons Ian Wright is doing too much women's football coverage and that her career on the box has taken a hit in the last eighteen months.

She is right about Wright: even a single minute of him is too much. However, she may be on the tellybox less often of late because she is - how can I put this politely? - a bit rubbish.

I haven't seen her commentate, so I can't comment on the quality of her work.
I do know there are quite a few very average male commentators & pundits on SSN.

Ms Aluko also claims that her legal battle with Joey Barton has cost her a lot of work as well.
That may or may not be an exaggeration. But I doubt if anybody who has been targeted by JB comes out in any way better for the experience.

She has been quoted as saying her career has taken a hit because she stood up to Joey Barton. I don't know the truth, and have never seen her on TV. I have no interest in women's football but have nothing against it.
Ian Wright's episode of Desert Island Discs is worth a listen on BBCSounds
