Yes, with three games left and a game in hand for us. It means if either of them then picks up a win in those three games on us then the other is our buffer. Literally any of the three results in this game is fine for us, none of them add pressure, they're all good for different reasons.
Not if both Derby and Luton win their next game and we don’t get anything from our next 2. Have a day off.
But if Derby won this they'd already be above us so you're saying it's bad because Derby could win their next game ffs. Luton finish the season with three sides in a top 6 battle, they aren't picking up any more wins. Them beating Derby means Derby stay beneath us.
Would much prefer a Derby win today. This result would make it key we get at least a point today - preferable to keep the relegation zone at least 3 points below us.
A Derby win is great because it means Luton basically down. A draw is great because it means both sides drop points and Derby stay beneath us. A Luton win is great because it means Derby get 0 points out of this and become the most at risk team of dropping into the bottom 3. Just a case of picking your poison about which of those is the most 'greatest'. Personally a draw would be best from my perspective because Luton won't pick up many more points and denying Derby points is good as well.
I think in a division like this - being super competitive- you can expect weird results at this stage of the season. Who saw Plymouth beating Sheff Utd the other day? If we can keep all in the relegation zone 3 points behind us (due to our goal difference) - that mitigates odd results as even if it happens they can’t go above us. Finishing 20th or 21st makes no odds to me so I’d prefer Luton to not win this one. Draw would be fine but Derby winning is even better.
Understood which is why I said it's a case of picking your poison, but there's a positive take on basically any result out of this game. Having Derby stay beneath us is objectively a good result as it would mean they would drop into the relegation zone before us. If they win and go above us then we're the next cab off the rank as it were.
If Luton win and we draw later we’ll be three points ahead with superior goal difference. They’d still need 4 more points than us from 3 games against top 6 teams. Don’t think it’s anything to worry about, personally. We just have to make sure we don’t lose.
Yeah definitely, which is why I said it's a matter of perspective, either there's less cabs at the rank or more passengers ahead of us.
I guess I’m just impatient as this stage. I want that bottom three relegated as soon as possible. All three losing and us winning today I think pretty much does it - if Luton get points it elongates it slightly, even if just in the ‘what if’ universe.
