To be fair mate, Leeds were fighting for the League, FA Cup and European Cup Winners Cup in the space of a month. In the week they played Sunderland they had three games so were swapping players regularly. Fortunately for them they were replacing one international with another ... ... Jack Charlton with Paul Madeley for example, both fantastic players.
We don’t HAVE to do anything, we know we can’t get top two and we’re in the play offs. Now we can rest and be prepared for those. We don’t have to rest them
En route to Manchester to catch a flight to Rome for a few days. First time abroad for us in a good while. Have a great trip to Bristol to all of you going.
My youngest son flew down yesterday, same flight as the team, which was an experience for him. He was surprised that Patto didn't appear to be that big, but for balance I should point out that my son is 6ft 2in and goes to the gym so everything is relative, I suppose. If your reading this lad I hope your hangover isn't too bad On a similar note I remember bumping into Gordon Chisholm and Paul Atkinson at a pre season friendly, Bury away (?), and being surprised how young they looked. I'd settle for a decent performance today with a slight change in emphasis, namely being more proactive, but mainly just playing some decent football. I dont feel the result is that important so I think we will settle for the draw.
Haway you red and white b@stards ! Let’s get into them ! I’ll be enjoying this spectacle in the Seaham harbour cricket club on this holiest of days tipping a pint to good old Jesus Christ
Sounds good mate, Easter in Rome ... ... I love this holiday, it's one that has a real message of hope and doesn't just revolve around heavy drinking
On train to Bristol. Looking forward to the game and catching up with folk again. Managed to bag a £12 upgrade to 1st class. Canny. See you Monday @Smug in Boots .
Thanks again RTB another cracker, going to miss these threads when we get promoted. Onto the match, I expect more of the same from previous few games, few of the lads to be rested and the fringe players getting minutes, would like to see our strikers get a goal each and boost their confidence. Liking all the prep talk from RLB and think he’s doing a good job taking the pressure off the lads. Can smell a defeat today but it won’t matter a jot
Coming to the debate about resting players,it's my belief that players need to play. It maintains their match fitness and sharpness, things they can lose if they're out the side. It also allows for players to become familiar with each other's play,to develop cohesion and trust in each other. If,as many of us believe,Enzo's best position is in behind the front runners, it would make sense to play him there consistently before we get to the play-off matches. It would give him match readiness and a better understanding of team-mates play alongside him e.g. Neil and Jobe and allow for the same with e.g.Wilson and Mayenda.Only so much can be achieved on the training ground....match situations are entirely different. With only 4 games left including today,I hope we play our strongest available line up in each. To keep players back for the play-offs could, imo,be counter productive. To justify that by suggesting it stops them picking up cards or injury is a flawed argument. That could happen to any one of them 5 minutes into the first play-off match.
I can just imagine the panic running through Ashton Gate. If this was us people would be saying 'Bad feeling about this, no pressure on them and all on us' It's fair to say the nerves are setting in. Coventry suddenly struggling and Sheff Utd falling apart. Watching everyone squirm is great fun, hopefully they'll cop injuries, cards and run themselves into the ground. I have no idea how this game will go, anything could happen ... ... Easter if often the time for shock results although I'd be happy to see us play Bristol at Wembley tbh. If they win today I'll console myself with that
I mostly agree with your analysis, but we can do this after to-days game imo. Whatever we do today, individual performance , and organisation are more important than the result imo.
