Sadly not, we lost to them when it actually mattered. We lost all our games for 50 years when they actually mattered. It was earlier than that so probably when we first got promoted under Keegan - it does make the result seem even more dubious.

 

I went off Newcastle when they lost to Liverpool in the FA Cup final in the 70's something like 3 or 4-0, scarred me for life that did.

Having re-read the thread title can confirm there’s no need for them to have ever played for an English team.
