Rory McIlroy has got himself back into contention with a 6 under second round. 2 behind Rose who leads on -8, but Scheffler is looking dangerous at -7, with 8 holes still to play. Hatton also doing well and at -6, with 9 to play, Lowry on -5. Good to see our boys doing well.
I mean, the cooler conditions later on will change the behaviour of the cars a bit, but still... Interesting to see Bortoleto continuing to outshine Hulk as well - he was always the best of the rookies coming in for me (although Hadjar has been impressive too).
Rory McIlroy is on fire. 5 under after the first 5 holes of the third round, putting him 11 under for the tournament and 3 clear of De Chambeau
I agree , first time the Rule has been used . You watch . Next time it happens , it will be a different penalty entirely .
Going to be an interesting last day with him going out with DeChambeau, almost like a Ryder Cup game, with the added interest of others maybe breaking from the pack. Ludvig Aaberg must love this course and tournament as it’s only his second time playing in it and, having finished second on debut, he is tied 4th. I won’t be posting anything about Rory’s game tonight as after I did yesterday he had 2 bogeys. I did a Tom on him.
Well that was a much better race. Ferrari could have gambled with the soft tyre when the SC happened instead of using the hard tyre which was not popular with the drivers. Still, very solid 4th and 5th. Shoutout to Bearman who started 20th and finished 10th to get a point. Russell immense but could get a penalty for DRS infringement.
Really good race and some good battles all the way down the field. Piastri was flawless, compared to Norris who made so many mistakes. And Russell was impressive yet again. Will be unfortunate for him to get a penalty. Think Ferrari will be kicking themselves for not taking a gamble with the softs.
Ferrari were a bit handicapped by the safety car. They were in a very good position to make good before that.
