Oh come on. He's been making excuses all season. Fixtures, injuries, VAR, fans being in a bad mood. He's run out of normal excuses that most other teams also face but seems to be fine with, so now he's invoking the pantheon. I get that it's tounge in cheek, but I'd prefer to hear him say that this isn't about luck or the stars not aligning. We just need to be more clinical and better in front of goal. Yes the second half was a good performance that deserved more goals, but for much of the first half their keeper barely moved.
The reporter clearly introduced the football gods into the conversation, and Ange responded to that But of course, there's a financial incentive for people to pretend that they're reading more into it than there actually is, as demonstrated by the fact this conversation so far has a tweet and an article which both avoiding context like the plague featuring prominently
The journo laid a trap and he jumped straight into it. Just say "if we're going to beat them next week and win this tournament, we have to put those chances away." Straight bat. Nice and positive. No dramas, mate. The bloke's taking flak (rightly, IMHO), so getting mugged like that is just lazy, dumb or both.
If he did that, doubtless there would be at least one Twitter feed claiming "ANGE IS A HERETIC: SAYS FOOTBALL GODS DON'T EXIST" or something equally facepalm worthy
The bloke was coach at Celtic, FFS! He will have had more media training than he's had hot Giros Pittas (and I suspect that's a significant amount). If he can't help himself, by fending off that kind of blunt and obvious approach, he didn't pay enough attention and doesn't deserve much sympathy. He's supposed to be a top level coach in the most exposed league in the world. Dealing with it smartly and professionally is part of what he's paid handsomely to do.
The thing is, the comment about doing what we do without the football gods is a pretty smart quote - which is why that bit in particular gets clipped out
That's your opinion. From my perspective, he looks dumber than a bag of wet mice for playing in those waters. If you're in a hole, be smart. Say very little. Make it basic...Can't fault the effort, next game, we go again... He could just have watched Bull Durham...
There's always going to be something that somebody looks to pounce on He could say the most drab, middle manager spiel and somebody somewhere will twist it, i.e. saying we didn't take our chances will mutate into slagging off the forwards Made a change from his tetchy responses, at least
Matt Law says Ange will be sacked if we don't get European football next season ...but wait! He moved on from stating the bleedin' obvious by saying he could leave even if we win the Europa League
Under Ange we've played... 6 Caribou Cup games: 3 away 3 home. W4 L2 both losses away from home 4 FA Cup games: 2 home 2 away W2 L2 one loss away from home 11 Europa League games: 6 home 5 away W6 D3 L2 both losses away from home Prem games 70: 35 home and 35 away W31 D10 L29 16 losses away from home Total 91 games 43 Wins 13 draws 35 losses 45 away games 21 losses Take out the first 10 prem games and it becomes 34 losses in 81 games.
Not necessarily There's a persistent rumour there's a break clause in the summer if we don't have European football Guess there's only one way to find out if that's true or not...
Think it's inevitable now...a mate of mine who ain't into changing managers has had enough ... impossible to put up any positives on us under Ange.
I can’t see him making the end of the season if Spurs go out on Thursday. If they decide he’s not the man then he should be sacked immediately. Keeping him for the final games when he’s leaving in the summer would be amateur.
You'd have thought that they'd just put him on gardening leave if it is true. We all know that really means that he's been sacked, but it fulfils the contract. It's not like anyone's going to want to come in for the remaining games.
I’ve said for about 6-8 weeks now I genuinely think Mason would do better. At the very least I think he’d make semi-sensible/ logical decisions. I just cannot understand Postecoglou’s thought process half the time. We’ve had bad football under different managers but this is just stupid and idea-lacking football, no one seems to know what to do.
