Listened to it several times. Opening vocals just the way he delivers the second line then goes into a good instrumental... 'Couldn’t say the time of day, but the light through the shades rearranged her face into valleys and peaks of gold.' Then as it goes on the whole composition of it is remarkable. Someone in the comments said it reminded them of Depeche Mode, but I just thought the tempo wasn't right for me for it to be them, although there was a section where you could have blended in the insrumental from enjoy the silence, but not vocals, there is something there that sounds familiar.
As a band they're very much like Protomartyr, vocally for me he has touches of Mark Lanegan, Mark Kozelek and Nick Cave, especially the track Dive Shrine. I never got into Depeche Mode, so couldn't comment. Musically I hear touches of Animal Collective.
