Been popping in and out today just to check if anything had happened, general browsing. Didn't want to post this on Billy's terribly sad thread. But noticed during the day the stars rating for his thread fluctuating, it was down to 3 now back up to 4. The person or persons involved in down rating it, should hang their heads in shame. Anonymity the last refuge of a coward. I dread to think what the tags would have been.
Yes MR, I noticed that and rated it to try and lift it, just cant understand why anyone would bother to rate it low, beyond me
There really must be some sad, pathetic excuses for human life rating it down. It's unthinkable to me why anyone would do it?
I'd remove the ratings system altogether. It's absolutely, 100%, completely and utterly pointless. 1). No one takes any notice of it 2). People anonymously abuse the system and vote down every thread, making the scores redundant, and everyone knows it It just does nothing apart from offend people in situations like this. Get rid.
Well I see they have hit this one, with one star, not that I give two ****s about them hitting anything I post. Have you got the bottle to admit it was you big man? please log in to view this image
Normally there would be a lot of finger pointing to the mags... but as what happened to Billy transcends football, there have been a fair few mags putting rivalry aside and passing on their condolences. I agree with above posters... there is a special level of hell reserved for people like them.
The ratings is something which I never take a happeth of notice of. However, I echo the sentiments suggesting that the people who would give a low score to a thread of such magnitude are nothing but trash..I will now procede to give that thread a five star rating to compensate fot these morons
Thinking about this in a slightly different way (and it might be just me) but earlier today I thought about rating Billys thread but thought - "Hmm. 5 stars - Excellent - doesn't really express how I feel about a thread about someones loved one dying" so I didn't rate it at all. After reading this thread I went back and rated it 5 stars but, giving people the benefit of the doubt, perhaps some posters were thinking a bit like me and thought rating it 'Terrible' echoed how they felt after reading Billy's sad news. Maybe?
To be honest mate, I never rate threads as a rule because I feel it doesn't serve any purpose..However, the thought of some posters giving that particular thread a low rating sickened me to the stomach..
Star system means nothing, I don't pay attention to it because of its insignificance to the merit of the thread content and I didn't realise anybody else paid attention to it either. In my opinion it doesn't matter what a couple of gold images on a page mean especially with regards to the death of a loved one; if it were my thread I couldn't care less how many 'stars' it got after seeing 6+ pages of nice responses from every poster.
They also say 'there's no fool like a old fool' Guess you cannot vote twice, so if I now vote say 2stars would it show ?
Just had a look at a few other boards. Hardly any other teams use the star ratings apart from...You guessed it. Newcastle. I don't know who the one star prick is, but I smell a skunk.
