Is that the land at Jacksons Farm bought by John Corbett long before Lowe's reverse takeover with the intention of building St Mary's there when they got planning permission? They never did and consequently the land wasn't worth much. CSI pumped £10.5m into Pompey, so I'd predict that they'll be in trouble again fairly soon if the league let them off now.
I still think, having read various reports, that around half of the £10m was the first tranche of the purchase price - it certainly wasn't spent on wages/fees and refurbs etc.
Pompey don't need to start paying the CVA until March (when we need an ownders cash available to start paying). We can fund ourselves until the end of February No points deduction, situation is completely different to that of Saints.
just wait 3 months down the line when you still havent got new owners and you have no money to pay anybody
Alright Mystic Meg, chill out! We will have to see what happens. The likelyhood is that Chainrai will have to take the reigns again if it looks like no new owners are coming in; servicing all CVA payments during his time in charge, otherwise he would lose millions if the club was liquidated. Escaped again? Oh dear RLGB, there would be no escaping anything. If the decision is made in our favour again, it will be because there is no justifiable reason to punish us, and that we have not actually done anything wrong
Well to be fair Jake it really is a bit too early for anyone to make considered decisions just yet - at the moment PFC has the running costs for the next 1-3 months and there are too many questions/scenario's that can be played out in the short term, eg. will Antonov be extradited, will Chanrai step back in as owner (to protect his dosh), is there another buyer on the horizon, will we end up back in administration? I would imagine that the FL will want to wait until they can be in a position to either a) have no decision to make because things have worked out well at PFC, or; b) reach a stage where they can apply the maximum points deduction because of how things have not worked out. We can only continue taking our anti-heart-attack pills and hope for the best!
No they shouldn't.The Football league we're suppose to make sure that anyone who wanted to own a football club had to be 'fit and proper' acording to the football league they were 'fit and proper' but turned that they weren't. In my opinion the football league should be punished.
This time they don't deserve to get a points decution to some extent. But due to their previous problems I think they really do need to punish the club! This will show how severe a problem finances are in English Football and soon a lot of clubs will begin to make sure their debts are in order otherwise they will know the consequences
That's a daft argument Rickie. Firstly - the "club" was punished for its previous problems. You cannot resurrect an old problem with new punishments - that's not how things work. Secondly - you can't keep making an example of 1 individual (in this case PFC) in the hope that the many others will be scared into submission. They never are, otherwise banks wouldn't sell unsuitable products to vulnerable people, businesses wouldn't flout the sale of goods act and there would be no murders in the states where the death penalty is used. Thirdly - it's the owners who need to be punished, and the FL for passing them as "fit & proper" and suitable persons to run a club. Don't forget that Birmingham are in a similar position to us, Yeung is incarcerated in Hong Kong on money laundering charges. In our case the High Court recognised that Chan the man was the only viable purchaser for Portsmouth FC. Antonov was introduced to the club by Keith Harris, banker and former chair of the FL. Chan the man sold his business to Antonov's business and the FL deemed him fit and proper to own a football club. A points deduction will serve no purpose except to be a weak response to a fundamental problem within this industry.
Nah - just not as old and wizened as me. You were floored by a flawed argument. It's a whole lot bigger picture than just your rivals down the road.
