What followed was 4 league titles in 5 seasons and 3 Champions League Finals in 4 seasons. Ignore the ABU's and keep the faith!
Will he be allowed to spend the money this time with FFP coming in? Group elimination costs up to £30m, so no Sneijder or Moddy for you
Even when you were octuplating the Francenal, you needed a midfielder. But you can still life the title. Long way togo
If only! I think Jones should play more often in midfield. He is capable of doing a good job in there.
Did United even make any bids on Wesley Sneijder? Seems like SAF was only ever keen to dismiss the rumours that they were in after him.
Jeez can you imagine if SAF said we we're after him... then the deal never happened. He'd get crucified. Best deals are done quickly and quietly.
Not that any of us want to be out of the CL, but atleast it gives us more of a chance of overhauling City in the League, we can play the kids on Thursday nights, and realy concentrate on winning our league games. I remember the Chelsea game at Old Trafford that cost us the league to them a couple of seasons ago, being sandwiched in between the 2 Bayern games, whilst Chelsea were already out. That certainly helped Chelsea win the league that year, so who knows it could be a blessing in disguise. This year we just need to do aswell as we can domestically, and then bring in some quality in the summer, to replace some of the deadwood. We had a great few years, getting to 3 of 4 finals, but I think now we are in a sort of transitional period. I just hope SAF still has enough left in him, to rebuild the side once again, and get us back to being one of the best sides in Europe again
We won the Carling Cup. But then that was mainly cos we were effectively out of the title race by Xmas and so the CC and FA Cup got a higher priority. With us still being relatively close to City right now, I reckon we'll still prioritise the PL and thus potentially end up trophyless this season. Tho' if we get past City in the FA Cup we may have a decent chance at that one.
You cant win silverware every year, so I can candle a Barron year, as you can bet UTD will come back stronger
United and maybe even Chelsea can challenge City for the league. Let's see how City cope in March/April when you know United do the business. I'd still put my cash on United for the league
I'd put some cash on us if we are still within five points of City come February time. But with Vidic out for the season, and no chance to strengthen the defence until Jan, we could well drop another five or six points of the pace in the next two months. So even if City have a poor run it might not be us challenging them come the sharp end of the season. Reckon Abramovich will let us have Alex on the cheap?
