Norwich had to win but didn't ...

... it was a training exercise for Sunderland.

Result and performance barely even matter at this stage. Getting fitness and form into the squad and making them a cohesive unit in time for playoffs is all that matters.

One way to look at it - 4 points and 2 clean sheets in the space of 4 days in away games at West Brom and Norwich, is very good.

We've just restricted the 2nd top home scorers to Nil tonight, their two main strikers who've got around 30 goals between them to 1 shot apiece which Patto fell onto without being tested.
Its not all about winning pretty or playing pretty at all, it's a long hard grind and we're in the mix.
Its obvious the manager is setting us up to keep things tight, and 3 clean sheets back that up.

Well done Reggie and his youth club members, bring on the last few games.

I get what you are saying but to me it doesn't really matter who we have. There will be no easy games but with us having the away game first is huge. If our lads can match the performance what our fans will be doing in the stands we will be well on the way. The kids are they going to freeze in these games or will it be 'balls for glory' from them. There will be a full house at the SOL and Wembley another 50,000 traveling? These games can produce 'legends'....so excited that we are going into these games without mercenaries and has been's. Bring on any team mate we have got this!!!!

I was frustrated, thought we were ****, moaned constantly from kick off till the final whistle.
Once that had settled down and looked at the game properly, yes there was a very slender outside chance of top 2, but when does RLB choose as the cut off point.
Is it worth pushing players who have played nearly every minute of the season.
Risk more injuries when it's probably not needed.
I think he's using these games to rest some player, bring Le Fee up to match fitness, give fringe players a bit more game time.
Yes we would have loved top 2, we'd love to win the remaining games 4 or 5 nil, but **** me RLBs first season , we've reached the play offs with 5 games to get fully prepared, yet that's still not good enough for some.

And we are 100% unbeaten against Burnley this season, they can't say that against us

For top two we'd need to win the next 6 games ...

... for PL via the playoffs we only need to win 2 more games.

RLB's not as daft as us supporters <laugh>

I dont know if we've been blessed in the recent past, but he doesn't quite cut it in the final 3rd, too many occasions he was hesitant.

We’ve just qualified for the playoffs which was the ultimate aim for the year and all of the comments on clubs socials are negativity and people moaning. We need to unite, be proud of what this group has achieved and let the momentum build together!

The expectations and entitlement of some really bewilders me. We’ve an absolutely amazing season and are going to be in the best position of anyone going into the playoffs! all those below us will have to push right to the end even to qualify (see what that did to our squad vs Luton!) and those above, whoever misses out is going to have to regroup and get over the massive disappointment - because ultimately all 3 of them seem intent on throwing it away.

Any outside chance of the top 2 is so small, even if we’d gone full strength last night from the off and won, we’d have still been 7 points behind with 5 games to go, with 3 teams above us, it’s 200/1 for a reason. And we DID try and win it, 0-0 away at Norwich is an incredible result for anyone, I’m not sure why we are now expected to win every game in the toughest league in the world!

I hope once the playoffs roll round the atmosphere becomes the immense togetherness that is the best thing about this club. I’ve booked to come up for QPR game and will stay far beyond the end to give these lads the ovation they deserve for this season

I'd say that's the only sensible way to look at it.

Am i getting carried away saying Regis is keeping the lads reserved in games to preserve fitness so we are ready for the BIG ONE?

You know, I'd forgive Neil for misplacing attempts at through balls, but he was steadily ****ing up easy 5 yard passes. He will unfortunately get the brunt of fan frustration being a very key player in the middle and captain. I thought O9 made some daft duffs but again had an ultimately good game, obviously Mepham, despite his blips this season, has my expectation of being a behemoth every game.

Hume on the left, i dig it. Like Bardo.

Its almost disturbing how good Le Fee is, in comparison to opponents and teammates. You'd have to hope the lads will learn a lot from him, but hes just got naturally more ability and uses his physique brilliantly.
